Transmission types

David Albaladejo wrote this little document in spanish about transmission types.

Trying to achieve an accurate simulation I usually check the transmission type of certain cars.
Now I got a complete list for all vehicles on iRacing:

Sequential gearshift fully auto: Sequential with paddles. Don’t have to use the clutch. Only shift paddle and go. No need to blip to downshift or upshift.

Williams-Toyota FW31 (Road A or B +4.00)
HPD ARX-01 C (Road B or C +4.00)
McLaren MP4-30 (Road B or C +4.00)
Chevrolet Corvette C7 (Road B or C +4.00)
Dallara Indy Car (Oval/Road B or C +4.00)
Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup (Road D or Rookie +4.00)
McLaren MP4-12c GT3
Audi R8 LMS GT3
Mercedes AMG GT3
BMW Z4 GT3
Kia Optima
RUF RT 12R Track

Dog-box sequential gearshift with throttle cut: Sequential with shift lever.
Upshifting: There is no need to put the clutch in if we stay at proper RPM. Just upshift (don’t release until shift is engage).
Also there is no need to lift the throttle to engage thanks to throttle cut.
Downshift: There is no need to put the clutch in either (proper RPM). Downshift, blip and release the paddle.

RUF RT 12R C-spec

Dog-box sequential gearshift without throttle cut: Upshifting: There is no need to put the clutch in if we stay at proper RPM. Lift a moment and upshift (don’t release until shift is engage).
Downshift: There is no need to put the clutch in either (proper RPM). Downshift, blip and release the paddle.

Skip Barber Formula 2000 (Road D o Rookie +4.00)
Legend Ford ’34 Coupe (Oval Rookie)

Dog-box h-pattern: Upshifting: There is no need to put the clutch in if we stay at proper RPM. Lift a moment and upshift (don’t release until shift is engage).
Downshift: There is no need to put the clutch in either (proper RPM). Downshift and blip in Neutral.

Lotus 79 (Road B o C +4.00)
Chevrolet SS-Gen 6 (Oval A o B +4.00)

Manual transmission, H-pattern
Upshifting: Mandatory clutch use. Lift the throttle, put the clutch in and engage, stepping on the gas pedal at the same time you progressively releasing throttle.
Downshift: Mandatory clutch use. Lift the throttle, put the clutch in and engage, mostly while we brake at the same time. You can blip in neutral with heel and toe technique if you have enough practice. Release the clutch when downshifting is done.
