A bittersweet 10th anniversary

10th anniversary

Ten years ago, I decided to start a site where I could write about my findings and thoughts on simracing. I’d been in the hobby for over two decades, reading extensively about various topics, and on that date, the iRacing forums provided a great place to learn and exchange information. Initially, it was going to be a blog about an OSW build, but it evolved into a more comprehensive site.

I always had a regular job, so my spare time was limited. It was purely a matter of passion and spreading the word. Watching the community grow was a rewarding experience. It was also a pleasure to see professionals joining us and enjoying iRacing, F1, or rF2—a validation of the quality of the tools we were using.

Of course, many things have changed in my personal life over the years. The emotional and duty-related rollercoaster almost killed the site in the pre-pandemic years, but Alberto helped me gain new momentum during that fateful biennium.

As you can tell, we are a humble team of two. No event coverage, no interviews, no podcast, and no flashy videos on social media. We simply don’t have the resources (time and money) for those things. We’re often late with the news, and it’s rare for us to get embargo access to anything new. We aren’t part of a company, and we can barely make any money from this due to the fierce competition from others who work full-time in simracing media.

Despite all of that, this past month we’ve already surpassed the numbers from all the best previous years. And yet, you won’t find cookie warnings, newsletter prompts, Google ads, or any other intrusive (yet profitable) internet add-ons taking your data here. Only anonymous stats are taken for our analysis.

Affiliate programs are no longer enough to keep this going. So we’ll ask (or even beg in the coming months) for your help to keep the site running. It’s simple: just go to the lower left corner and use the Ko-fi button to support us monthly. As far as we know, almost every payment method is supported. On New Year’s Eve, we’ll check if there’s enough fuel—or battery—to keep our spirit racing for another year.
