Assetto Corsa 2 Coming in 2024

In a recent report from Digital Bros, parent company of 505 Games and Kunos Simulazioni, a slide was leaked indicating that a true sequel to Assetto Corsa will be released by 2024.

As we all know, Assetto Corsa Competizione has never been considered as Assetto Corsa 2 (although the installation files say otherwise), but rather as a Spin Off of that franchise focused entirely on GT categories and the official GT Challenge license.

Among the information contained in the slide are the following:

  • Assetto Corsa is the number 1 racing simulator having sold more than 12 million copies and with revenues of more than 66 million euros.
  • New “chapter” with Assetto Corsa competizione, the official videogame of the Blancpain GT Series (now GT Challenge) with a 3-year partnership.
  • Fully licensed GT cars of top brands: Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren.
  • Unique selling points in the game: Extraordinary level of simulation quality, outstanding level of detail with laser scanning technology of the circuits and using the Unreal Engine 4 graphics engine.
  • Second version (of Assetto Corsa) in development with a planned release in 2024.
  • Mobile version in development with a planned release this summer.

However, we do not have more information about the new release beyond a possible release date. It is not yet detailed which vehicles or circuits it will have, if it will have the same ones as Assetto Corsa 1 but with some new features, if it will be a mix of the two ACs that are on the market, if it will come to consoles or only to PC, which graphic engine it will use, etc.

It is very likely (as has happened with previous installments) that the simulator will first come to PC and then be ported to the current generation consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series). It is very likely that the game is currently being developed with UE4 graphics engine, but considering that Epic’s new UE5 graphics engine is just around the corner, it is very likely that they will migrate to it at some point in development.

When we have new information, we will keep you updated.

See you on the track!
