Assetto Corsa 2 Has a Launch Date

Most SimRacing enthusiasts are familiar with Assetto Corsa Ultimate, which has either served as their first racing simulator or the one that ignited their passion for racing simulations. It was a game-changer in terms of physics, content, and licenses.

Assetto Corsa will be celebrating its 9th anniversary in December 2023, and rumors of a sequel have been circulating for some time. These rumors were finally confirmed by Kunos Simulazioni in the third quarter of 2021, indicating that a second version is in development.

Recent information has shed more light on the upcoming Assetto Corsa sequel, including an approximate release date. Additionally, Assetto Corsa 2 will use Kunos Simulazioni’s in-house engine, leaving the question of whether it will revert to Unreal Engine 4 or 5, as we saw with Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Release Date

According to the financial report published on March 15, 2023, by Digital Bros, the second version of Assetto Corsa is currently in development and is scheduled for release in the spring of 2024.

Furthermore, a sales report for the franchise was also released, indicating that the Assetto Corsa franchise has generated revenues of over 104 million euros, with more than 28 million copies sold as of December 31, 2022.

Despite this information, details about the game remain scant. We do not know how the physics will work, whether modding support will be available, or if the competitive multiplayer will be more polished than in the first installment.
