Assetto Corsa Competizione: GT2 Pack Review

acc gt2 review

Assetto Corsa Competizione is the official game of the SRO GT Challenge, and therefore includes the cars and circuits raced in it. GT2 category and Red Bull Ring are the last addons before the Nordschleife DLC ends the development cycle of the game. You can buy it for 13 euros in Instant Gaming:

A few days ago, the GT2 Pack DLC was released for Assetto Corsa Competizione , an expansion that adds, curiously, a different category to GT3. With a total of six new vehicles and a highly requested circuit, it becomes one of the most “special” packs. Today we’ll discuss here whether this DLC is worth it.

Starting from the beginning, Assetto Corsa Competizione is the official simulator of the SRO GT Challenge, so it has always been composed of the GT3 and GT4 categories in a DLC that was released a few months later after its launch. There has been quite a bit of discussion in recent months about the possibility of stopping the release of content for ACC and Kunos focusing on Assetto Corsa 2. But Assetto Corsa Competizione is not over yet, and after this new DLC, there is still the release of Nürburgring Nordschleife to look forward to, where we’ll see if there are any more surprises.

Nevertheless, setting aside the uncertain future, we focus on the present of ACC and its new DLC. As I mentioned earlier, it consists of 6 vehicles and the Austrian circuit of Red Bull Ring, so… What about the content?

Content of the DLC

Honestly, I think the content is good in terms of quality as always has been. It’s true that one or two more circuits could have been added, making it a much more complete DLC, but given the quality and level of detail of the new track, it’s understandable. As for the cars, more of the same, they are of high quality both graphically and in sound, something already seen in the rest of Assetto Corsa Competizione’s content.

Red Bull Ring

The new Red Bull Ring circuit has been highly requested by players. It’s a well-known circuit, very fast, with a beautiful landscape among the Austrian mountains. But this, although it’s a nice touch, is not the most important thing. What’s really interesting is where we’ll have our eyes every time we get behind the wheel.

Red Bull Ring is a racing circuit located in the village of Spielberg, near the town of Zeltweg, Styria, Austria, about 50 km west of the city of Graz. It has hosted several major world and European motor sport championships. The original name of the circuit was Österreichring, which would translate to “Austria circuit.” After its renovation in 1995, it was renamed A1-Ring due to the sponsorship of the telecommunications company A1 Mobilkom. In 2010, the beverage manufacturer Red Bull GmbH acquired the circuit and gave it its current name.

The track is packed with details, signs, particles, lighting… I can’t remember a circuit in this same simulator that has given me that feeling at first sight, and every time I was going through a corner, I kept noticing the environment due to the details around me.

The layout is short and fast, full of elevation changes and with big braking zones in turns 3 and 4 that allow for overtaking. Mistakes are reserved for the last two corners where running wide is quite common, resulting in what’s humorously called “the squid tactic.”

I haven’t felt any strange things regarding AI, track limits, weird bumps, or anything like that, everything is pretty polished, a big plus.

GT2 Cars

After thoroughly testing each of the cars that have been added in this DLC, I must say they are quite fun. The pursuit of brute power, acceleration, and top speed is clearly noticeable the moment you put your foot down, as is the lack of aerodynamics in most cars, something characteristic of this category. Personally, the car I enjoyed driving the most and with which I managed to run the fastest is the KTM X-Bow because of its direct and nervous feeling from the rear.

SRO GT2 is a class of Grand Tourer racing cars aimed at amateur drivers and maintained by the SRO Motorsport Group. Despite the name, this class sits between GT4 and GT3 in terms of performance. Additionally, this class should not be confused with the GT2 Group from the early 2000s. The class uses a Balance of Performance to allow for close competition among competitors.

In terms of quality, as I mentioned before, you can tell they have spent time polishing the level of detail inside and out, as well as their sound.

Conclusion

In conclusion of this brief analysis, I think that along with the quality of the DLC and these six new vehicles, it will give a broader immersion to multi-class racing and add variety to the content of Assetto Corsa Competizione . It can be purchased on Steam for 17.99 euros or for slightly less on the Instant Gaming links we provide below.

In case you were wondering, you can also use these cars and the new track if you run on LowFuelMotorsport, another reason to add this pack to your library.
