KUNOS Simulazioni has fully revealed Assetto Corsa EVO’s Eifel Free Roam, confirming a 1:1 recreation of the Nürburgring area with single-player and multiplayer support, AI traffic, dynamic weather, a day/night cycle and activities including Time Attack. The first playable area will arrive with Update 0.10 before the project expands into additional parts of Germany’s Eifel region.
The initial release will be centred on the Nürburgring and its 20.8-kilometre Nordschleife, extending beyond the circuit into surrounding villages and the public roads connecting them. KUNOS says these locations are being reproduced at real-world scale rather than adapted into a fictional open-world layout.
That accuracy extends to the roads themselves. Their length and width are intended to match reality, along with corners, junctions, bridges and elevation changes, while villages include recognizable garages, hotels, restaurants, meeting places and other local landmarks.
Single-Player, Multiplayer and Dynamic Traffic
Free Roam will support both solo and multiplayer driving from its first release, allowing players to explore the region together rather than limiting the environment to a single-player experience. Variable AI traffic will populate the roads according to local trends, accompanied by changeable weather and a complete day/night cycle.

Players will not be required to follow a fixed progression path while exploring. KUNOS is instead building optional activities into the environment, including point-to-point Time Attack challenges with checkpoints and leaderboards, while still allowing players to simply choose a car and drive.
The showcase also demonstrated additional ways to interact with the environment. Players can leave their vehicle and walk, while NPCs and animals help populate the region. Footage also showed off-road exploration, navigation and locations associated with activities such as refuelling, car washing and tyre services.
Free Roam Starts Around the Nürburgring and Will Expand

The area included with the first iteration is not intended to represent the finished Free Roam project. KUNOS plans to add further representative sections of the Eifel over time, together with additional content, features and game modes.
The first iteration remains part of Assetto Corsa EVO Update 0.10, although KUNOS has still not announced its public release date. Before then, players will get their first opportunity to try Free Roam at SimRacing Expo Frankfurt, running from October 16-18, 2026.
Marco Massarutto will present the mode on the event’s main stage on Friday, October 16 at 16:00 CEST, while multiple stations on the show floor will allow visitors to drive the new environment. It will be the first public hands-on opportunity for a feature that has been in development since before Assetto Corsa EVO entered Early Access.
If you do not own the game yet, Assetto Corsa EVO is available on PC, and the original Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition remains the reference point for what a mature modding scene looks like.
See you on the track!

Oh, now it’s worth buying! It’s a driving and walking sim in one! Cute…..or desperate?
