Assetto Corsa EVO: More Torque, Less Talk

evo lamboHuracan

I remember the first time I launched Assetto Corsa EVO. The excitement was almost childlike, like opening a Christmas gift you’ve been eyeing for weeks under the tree. The roar of the engines, the promise of an evolution to the legacy of its predecessor, and above all, the dream of experiencing the “ultimate” racing simulation… But like many others, that dream soon stumbled upon the reality of early access.

Don’t get me wrong. I want this game to succeed. Truly. And I don’t say that lightly—I say it as someone who’s spent hundreds of hours fine-tuning wheel settings, memorizing every corner of Nordschleife, and speaking of Kunos with the same passion others reserve for their favorite football team. But lately, being a fan feels more like being in a long-distance relationship: all you have is hope… and messages that never come.

“Hey guys…”

That’s how Stefano Casillo, founder and now CTO back at Kunos, began his latest update. A simple, direct, even slightly casual line for the weight it carried behind it. “We’re making a lot of changes,” he says, and that next week, hopefully, we’ll get an official communication.

And that’s where the debate lights up.

Because it’s not so much what they say—it’s how they say it. Words like “hopefully” or “soon” start to feel hollow after more than 40 days of silence, especially when your community has invested not just money, but hope. And I’m not just speaking for myself: the forums are filled with comments swinging between zen-like understanding and chronic frustration.

In the world of game development, communication is as vital as code. Because when the FPS drop and the force feedback doesn’t feel right, the only thing keeping hope alive is knowing there’s someone on the other side actually listening.

The Fine Line Between Patience and Disappointment

Being part of a community that follows a game through early access is an emotional rollercoaster. And yet, despite the ups and downs, the general feeling isn’t hate. It’s concern. It’s wanting Kunos to succeed, but also wanting clear signs that success isn’t just a mirage in the rearview mirror.

I’m not jumping ship. Not yet. Not when I know what Kunos is capable of. But I do think it’s fair to ask for more than just a “hey guys, be patient.” Because while they “cook”, as many say, we’re still starving on the other side of the glass.

And patience—like grip on a tight corner—has its limit.

So Stefano, if you’re reading this: thank you for speaking up. Now give us reasons to believe with that same Italian passion that turned Assetto Corsa into a legend. Because we still want to believe that EVO won’t just be a name—it will be a true evolution.
