Assetto Corsa Rally has teased the three new cars coming with Early Access Update 0.6, with the latest video appearing to reveal a Peugeot 206 WRC, Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 and an early Audi Quattro rally car.
The short teaser was published by the official Assetto Corsa account on September 4, combining engine sounds from all three upcoming cars with carefully selected shots of their bodywork.
Supernova Games Studios has not formally announced the model names yet. However, the visual and audio clues strongly point towards three very different generations of four-wheel-drive rally machinery.
Peugeot 206 WRC appears to be heading to Assetto Corsa Rally
The easiest car to identify appears to be the Peugeot 206 WRC. Its distinctive bonnet vents can be seen in the teaser, matching the car Peugeot used at the highest level of international rallying between 1999 and 2003.
The 206 WRC became one of the defining rally cars of its era, helping Peugeot secure three consecutive manufacturers’ titles and carrying Marcus Grönholm to the 2000 and 2002 drivers’ championships.
Its appearance would also add another important late-1990s and early-2000s World Rally Car to Assetto Corsa Rally’s expanding historical roster.
Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 also teased
The second car appears to be the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, Volkswagen Motorsport’s customer rally car introduced in 2018.
The Polo would give Assetto Corsa Rally another modern four-wheel-drive machine to run alongside cars such as the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 and Hyundai i20.
Unlike the 206, the Polo represents the customer-focused R5 generation that preceded today’s Rally2 terminology, providing a noticeably different driving and technical profile from the older World Rally Car.
The third car appears to be an early Audi Quattro
The final car is accompanied by the unmistakable sound of an Audi five-cylinder engine and appears to be an early Group 4 Audi Quattro.
This distinction is important because the teaser does not appear to show the later Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 normally associated with the most extreme years of Group B. Instead, the clues point towards an earlier version of the Quattro from the beginning of Audi’s four-wheel-drive rally programme. The original competition Quattro fundamentally changed top-level rallying in the early 1980s by demonstrating the competitive potential of four-wheel drive.
It would therefore complement the Peugeot and Volkswagen particularly well, giving Update 0.6 three four-wheel-drive rally cars from very different periods.
When is Assetto Corsa Rally Update 0.6 coming?
Assetto Corsa Rally Update 0.6 does not yet have a confirmed release date.
The simulator is continuing through its Early Access roadmap following the release of Version 0.5 on June 29. That update introduced the Greek stages of Loutraki and Elatia, the first phase of online multiplayer and a substantial physics overhaul.
Supernova has continued working on vehicle dynamics since then, with further refinements expected as Early Access progresses. The developer has previously discussed additional work on throttle behaviour, tyre simulation, suspension and other areas of the driving model.
Assetto Corsa Rally’s official roadmap also makes clear that new vehicles, stages and gameplay refinements will continue to arrive throughout Early Access. For Update 0.6, however, the three new cars are now the clearest confirmed content addition. The exact models, complete changelog and release date are still awaiting a formal announcement.
