Rally enthusiasts finally have something big to celebrate. Today, 505 Games and Supernova Games Studios have officially announced Assetto Corsa Rally—the latest chapter in the beloved Assetto Corsa franchise, this time diving headlong into the demanding world of rally racing.
Launching in Early Access on Steam on November 13 at an introductory price of €29.99 ($29.99/£24.99/CN¥128/JP¥3,400), Assetto Corsa Rally aims to bring the franchise’s celebrated physics and realism to the ultimate test of speed, adaptability and nerves.
Real Rally, Real Physics
Supernova’s development team, made up of motorsport veterans and under the technical wing of Kunos Simulazioni, has worked closely to adapt Assetto Corsa’s physics engine specifically for the rigors of rally. This wasn’t about porting over old code—it’s been a ground-up push to capture the unpredictable terrain, the wild jumps and the ever-changing weather that separate rallying from any other discipline.
What’s especially exciting is the use of laser-scanned technology for every rally stage. Every bump, rut and roadside patch of vegetation has been digitally mapped to ensure what you drive feels like the real deal. Day-night cycles, shifting temperatures, humidity and surface water are more than cosmetic; they actively influence your grip and the way your car reacts, making each stage a truly new challenge.
Content at Launch and Beyond
When Early Access begins, drivers will hit 33 kilometers of real-world laser-scanned roads, spanning four special stages with 18 variants in gravel-rich Wales and tarmac-heavy Alsace. Ten legendary cars will be available from the start—including classics from Group B, WRC and Rally2—across five gameplay modes. There’s triple screen support, and online multiplayer will roll out through the EA phase.
The roadmap points to over 120 km of rally stages at full launch, five rallies from around the world, more than 30 iconic cars, a rally school, career mode, and VR compatibility for ultra-immersive action.
Authentic Detail and Sound
Every car is crafted using official CAD files and extensive laser scans, right down to component details. Damage isn’t just visual—physical deformations impact how your car drives, raising the stakes. The audio team went all-in, recording sounds from cockpits, trackside, under acceleration and even when drifting, for a truly enveloping rally experience. Co-driver pacenotes are voiced by actual professional navigators, adding that layer of realism rally diehards crave.
Voices Behind the Wheel
Studio Director Mauro Notarberardino sums it up: “Feeling the lack of a modern rally simulator, we built a team and tech to create one ourselves, with input from professional drivers, engineers, and collectors. KUNOS Simulazioni’s input was crucial to deliver the driving feel that Assetto Corsa is known for.”
Assetto Corsa co-founder Marco Massarutto adds: “A rally version of Assetto Corsa is easily the most-asked question I’ve had over the years. This sim lets us push physics and mechanical modeling in ways circuit racing doesn’t allow, giving something genuinely new to sim fans.”
See It First at SimRacing Expo Dortmund
Assetto Corsa Rally gets its first public showing this weekend at the SimRacing Expo in Dortmund, Germany (October 17–19), with main events at the FANATEC booth. The expo partnership showcases the project on the latest Fanatec hardware—a match made for sim racing purists.
South West Vision’s Michael Wamser notes, “Kunos Simulazioni has driven passion and innovation since 2014, and we’re excited to once again partner as part of virtual motorsport’s future.”
