Speed, precision, and the unforgiving nature of gravel rallying come together in Update 0.5 for Assetto Corsa Rally, the next major step in the simulator’s Early Access Program. This new update expands the experience with a brand-new rally location, the first phase of online multiplayer, a major physics overhaul, new events, and a wide range of improvements across audio, gameplay, visuals, environments, and bug fixes.

Almost here for players, Update 0.5 introduces Rally Greece, two new gravel special stages, official and custom multiplayer lobbies, refined vehicle dynamics, and a deeper foundation for the future evolution of Assetto Corsa Rally.

A New Rally Location Arrives With Rally Greece

One of the main highlights of Update 0.5 is the arrival of Rally Greece, a new location designed around dusty roads, fast gravel sections, technical corners, exposed rocks, and the demanding rhythm of classic Greek rallying.

The new location includes two special stages: Elatia and Loutraki. Together, they bring 22 km of high-fidelity, laser-scanned roads, 12 total layout variants, and 509 meters of elevation change.

Loutraki is a famous special stage previously used in the World Rally Championship. Starting near the outskirts of town, the road climbs into the hills of Aghii Theodori, combining wide, fast sections with tighter and more technical roads. Its dusty surface, roadside hazards, stones, and boulders make it a demanding test of concentration and car control.

Elatia, located near the town of the same name, connects the Elatia–Zeli route across wide gravel roads shaped by ruts, exposed rocks, and high-speed corners. It allows drivers to fully exploit their cars’ power, producing spectacular drifts while still demanding precision due to its speed and challenging surface conditions.

Online Multiplayer Begins With Phase One

Another major addition in Update 0.5 is the first phase of online multiplayer, introducing official and custom lobbies for single-stage events.

Players can now create their own lobbies or join official ACR lobbies, with support for up to 16 players. Custom lobby hosts can choose weather conditions and apply vehicle restrictions, including all cars, the same category, or the exact same car.

Official developer-managed ACR lobbies also debut in this update. These persistent community spaces are always visible in the server browser and use multiple active instances to help ensure that open slots remain available for players.

The multiplayer launch also includes a rotating event calendar, with two standard weekly events and one premium weekend-exclusive event running from Friday to Sunday.

Major Physics Overhaul Redefines the Driving Experience

Without a doubt, one of the most important parts of Update 0.5 is its major physics overhaul. Assetto Corsa Rally now features an upgraded tire model, refactored surface recognition, new bulldozing effects on gravel, revised camber dynamics, experimental surface vibrations, and a global tuning pass across all cars and terrains.

The new tire model introduces a revised peak slip angle formula, improving the role of the inner tire and helping it act as an active source of grip rather than simply dragging across the surface. Load sensitivity has also been refined, scaling more accurately with tire pressure and contact patch size.

Surface recognition has been refactored so that each tire now uses dedicated parameters for each terrain type, with individual surfaces able to apply unique modifier overrides. This is especially important on loose surfaces, where the new longitudinal and lateral bulldozing effects allow tires to generate more realistic grip by interacting with gravel in a more natural way.

Enhanced camber dynamics now make grip more dependent on load and angle sensitivity, while experimental stick-slip and dig-dependent vibrations bring more detailed feedback through Force Feedback.

The result is a more complex, more physical, and more authentic rally driving experience.

New Events Expand the Rally Calendar

Update 0.5 also expands the event structure with new content designed around the latest locations and conditions.

Assetto Corsa Rally now includes two new event groups with 24 fresh events focused on the new Greek stages, alongside eight new snow-condition events for the Alsace and Wales regions.

The official multiplayer rotation begins with events such as Rally 2 Greece Special Stages, Mini Tarmac Festival, Impreza S3 Wales Light Rain, Alfa GTA Greece Stages, Rally 2 Gravel Festival, and Lancia Delta Col de Turini Light Snow.

This gives players a broader selection of challenges across gravel, tarmac, rain, and snow, while also showcasing the new physics systems under different driving conditions.

A More Dynamic Ideal Line Debuts in Greece

Another major addition is the improved ideal line system, which now supports variable widths through corners.

Until now, the ideal line had a fixed width, sometimes causing only part of the car to remain on the grippier section of the road while sliding through a corner. With Update 0.5, the system allows corners to feature wider ideal trajectories, improving realism and giving drivers a more natural grip zone.

This new ideal line is currently active on the Greece stages and will be expanded to Wales, Alsace, and Livigno in future updates.

The visuals have also been improved, with skid marks and tram tracks now following the ideal trajectory more naturally. On gravel and snow, this makes the surface feel more swept, compacted, and disturbed by previous cars, while tarmac stages now feature darker areas, braking marks, and rubber buildup in tighter corners.

Audio, Visuals, and Environment Improvements Arrive Across the Game

Update 0.5 also brings a broad range of improvements across audio, VFX, lighting, art direction, and environments.

The Subaru Impreza S3 now features updated engine and exhaust audio with improved afterfire triggering, while the Peugeot 306 has been remixed with more induction character. A new helmet mic audio option has also been added, alongside further cabin camera tweaks and general 3D spatialization improvements.

Assetto Corsa Rally Update 0.3

Visually, the update introduces more advanced particle systems for dusty gravel surfaces, improved particle lighting, and enhanced ideal line visuals. The Greece stages also debut asymmetric ideal trajectory technology, allowing more precise control over visual intensity and track placement.

Environmental improvements include better streaming performance, updated spectator models, the addition of the Greece Service Park, fixes for service park terrain flickering, corrected tree collisions, removed duplicate vegetation, and adjustments to floating grass, bushes, and trees.

Gameplay, UI, and Bug Fixes Polish the Experience

The update also includes several gameplay and interface improvements designed to make the experience smoother and more flexible.

A new camera configuration sync option allows players to apply their gameplay camera layout to all vehicles at once or only to the currently active car. Default FOV settings have also been increased for cockpit and gauge cameras across all vehicles, although players are advised to review their custom camera configurations after the update.

Bug fixes include corrections to inaccurate Subaru Impreza S3 technical data, minor UI text and layout improvements, and a fix for dynamic track objects failing to reset after a stage restart.

See you on the track!
