Assetto Corsa Rally VR Support Confirmed for Late 2026

Supernova Games Studios confirmed that native VR support is actively being developed for Assetto Corsa Rally, with an official release projected for the second half of 2026. The announcement came during the third community Q&A session held on their official Discord server, hosted by Irvin Zonca (Creative Director and Game Director), and streamed by content creator Canard on July 16, 2026.

Quad View support was also confirmed, which is the right call for VR in rally sims where peripheral visibility matters for corner entry and surface transitions.

But projections are not promises, and this is worth reading with a healthy dose of caution.

The “rock-solid” bar

Zonca made one statement worth circling: he reiterated that Supernova has no intention of pulling the game out of Early Access until the core simulation engine feels rock-solid. This is the kind of language that signals either genuine commitment or the most polite deferral in game development. Either way, it tells you exactly how they’re ranking their priorities: simulation fidelity over shipping deadlines, which is good news in principle, but means Early Access is staying Early Access for the foreseeable future.

VR is part of that simulation fidelity chain. Rally driving in VR is a different beast compared to circuit racing — the lack of peripheral cues on narrow stages, the need to track pace notes while managing car balance, and the physical strain of sustained high-g forces on gravel. It’s not just about slapping a stereoscopic display on an existing setup. The physics, the force feedback integration, the cockpit geometry, the way the car slides in VR relative to a flat screen — these are all variables that need to align before it ships.

The timeline problem

Late 2026 is the stated target. We’re already past the halfway point of the year. If you look at how Assetto Corsa evolved — years in Early Access, multiple major content drops, a constant trickle of patches — you have a precedent for this kind of open-ended development cycle. That’s not necessarily a negative. The alternative is a polished-looking game with a hollow core. But it does mean that anyone planning to buy into a full release this year should probably plan for a wait.

The community has been asking about VR since the game’s initial announcement. The fact that Supernova is addressing it in a Q&A three sessions in means they’re aware of the demand. The question is whether the engineering effort aligns with the car rollout schedule, or whether one gets priority over the other. Zonca didn’t make that tradeoff explicit, which means it’s still an open question.

What this means for players

If you’re currently playing Assetto Corsa Rally on flat screen and want a VR transition, the answer is: not yet, but the path is clear. The Quad View detail suggests they’re thinking about it seriously rather than treating it as a checkbox feature. The real test will come when it actually ships, and whether the immersive experience matches the physical one.
