Audi RS3 LMS coming to iRacing

With the arrival of Snetterton used especially in the BTCC in Season 4 2017 and the configs 100, 200 and 300, it opened the possibility to include a new touring car championship in the iRacing simulator. It wasn’t known if it was a good or bad idea.  The only similar experience available is the KIA, resigned to being a ghost car in the simulator.

It was to be expected that after the middle of the second season in iRacing, news related to the new content that will be included in the next big update for June would appear. Well, this has been the case.

Tony Gardner, Executive Director of iRacing, said in the forums that the Audi RS3 LMS coming to iRacing, although it is not expected to be included in the next update.

This makes us think that we will have a new series for these small and powerful front-wheel drive vehicles. The TCR have a specification that was first introduced in 2014 and is now used in many series around the world. Its design does not differ much from a regular vehicle with 4 or 5 doors, powered by 2.0-liter turbocharged engines, although for certain circuits small adaptations (BoP) are made to guarantee competition between them.

All TCR vehicles have a common ancestor, the SEAT León Cup Racer, successor to the SEAT León Supercopa, used in several series. Initially, the specification and the international series that accompanied it were known as TC3. However, once approved by the FIA in December 2014, the specification was renamed TCR.

If we analyze the calendar of the TCR Europe Touring Car Series of 2019 we realize that for September (scheduled Season 4) have an appointment at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, circuit that was already confirmed to include it in the iRacing catalog but without any established launch date. Who knows if iRacing is preparing a special event.
