A community-developed workaround has managed to get NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering running inside Automobilista 2, despite Reiza’s simulator having no native support for the technology.
The experimental implementation was shared by Reiza forum member Ace, who has published screenshots, comparison images, video footage and a complete installation guide. The results show noticeable changes to lighting, shadows and the way cars integrate with their surroundings, but there is a substantial catch: performance.
This is not an official Automobilista 2 feature, nor has Reiza Studios announced DLSS 5 support. Instead, the setup combines ReShade with several community-developed tools to feed the information required by NVIDIA’s Neural Rendering system into AMS2.
DLSS 5 Is Running in Automobilista 2 — Unofficially
NVIDIA officially announced DLSS 5 in March 2026. Unlike the better-known DLSS Super Resolution technology, one of its major new components is Neural Rendering, which uses an AI model to modify lighting, materials and other aspects of the rendered image in real time.
Automobilista 2 was never announced as a DLSS 5 title. In fact, AMS2 does not provide native DLSS integration at all.
That has not stopped the modding community.
A guide published on the official Reiza Studios forum demonstrates DLSS 5 Neural Rendering operating in AMS2 through a chain of ReShade add-ons and community tools.
The workaround effectively has to create information that an officially supported DLSS implementation would normally receive directly from the game engine. This includes supplying the neural-rendering system with the current frame, depth information and estimated motion vectors before returning the processed result to the image.
It is an impressive technical experiment, but it should not be confused with native integration.
What Does DLSS 5 Change in AMS2?
The most noticeable differences appear around lighting and the visual grounding of cars within the environment.
According to the creator of the guide, wheels and exposed suspension components can appear more naturally illuminated, while additional shadowing can make vehicles look less detached from the track surface. Some scenes also give the impression of stronger global illumination and ambient occlusion.
The effect can be particularly obvious in garages, around open-wheel cars and in scenes containing complex lighting.
Ace has published several before-and-after comparisons showing the standard AMS2 image against the DLSS 5 Neural Rendering output, along with video footage demonstrating the effect while driving.
However, the system is not simply adding conventional ray tracing to Automobilista 2. The neural model is processing and modifying the rendered image, and because it does not have the same direct access to AMS2’s engine data as a native implementation would, visual errors can occur.
The original test already identifies visible artifacts, and the author does not recommend the current setup for long races.
Instead, its strongest use cases at this stage appear to be experimenting with the technology, capturing screenshots, recording videos and seeing what Neural Rendering can do inside a racing simulator that was never designed to support it.
The Performance Cost Is Huge
The biggest problem is frame rate.
Video demonstrations shared in the Reiza forum show a clear performance reduction as Neural Rendering is enabled. After further testing, the creator described the improvement as real but concluded that it was not worth effectively cutting the frame rate in half in its current form.
Other users have reported similar experiences.
One community member confirmed that the workaround was operating successfully but described the performance cost as too high even on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090.
That distinction is particularly important for sim racing.
A slower-paced game may have more flexibility to exchange frame rate for additional visual quality. Racing simulators depend much more heavily on consistent frame delivery and low latency, especially when using high-refresh-rate monitors, triple-screen configurations or VR.
Losing close to half the available frame rate for improved lighting is therefore a difficult compromise for actual racing.
The current AMS2 experiment should consequently be viewed as a technology preview rather than a practical graphics upgrade.
What You Need to Try DLSS 5 in Automobilista 2
The community guide currently recommends an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series or RTX 40-series GPU. The author suggests that some RTX 30-series cards may also be worth testing, but compatibility should not be assumed.
The setup relies on four main components:
- ReShade with Full Add-On Support
- RenoDX DLSS 5 add-on and Streamline files
- DLSS5-Feeder
- DLSS5 Bridge
ReShade 6.8.0 is the version used by the original AMS2 guide, with the Full Add-On Support installer applied to AMS2AVX.exe. During installation, the guide also uses the iMMERSE by Marty McFly Launchpad effect.
The RenoDX package supplies the DLSS 5 add-on and NVIDIA Streamline component, while DLSS5-Feeder constructs the information Neural Rendering needs from data accessible through ReShade.
A separate bridge handles the connection required to make the different components work together.
Important: these projects are being updated rapidly. The original AMS2 guide references a file named dlss5-dx11-bridge.addon64, while newer releases of the bridge project have moved to dlss5-bridge.addon64. Users should therefore check the current release notes rather than blindly mixing files from different versions.
DLSS5-Feeder is also under active development, with new public test builds already appearing since the original AMS2 guide was posted.
How the AMS2 Setup Works
The original community method starts by installing ReShade 6.8.0 with Full Add-On Support into AMS2AVX.exe. DirectX 10/11/12 should be selected when prompted, along with the iMMERSE Launchpad effect used by the guide.
The required RenoDX, Streamline, DLSS5-Feeder and bridge components are then placed into the main Automobilista 2 installation directory, alongside the executable.
The DLSS5 Feed shader is placed inside:
\reshade-shaders\Shaders
Once Automobilista 2 is running and a 3D scene has loaded, the ReShade interface can be opened using the Home key.
The guide recommends arranging the ReShade effects so that iMMERSE: Launchpad runs first, followed immediately by DLSS 5 Feed.
Neural Rendering can then be enabled from the ReShade Add-ons tab.
When everything is functioning correctly, the DLSS 5 section should report: DLSSNR ACTIVE
The neural-rendering effect can subsequently be enabled and disabled through the same interface, making direct comparisons possible.
Ace also recommends adjusting the available Neural Rendering parameters. In particular, reducing color strength can help avoid the stronger brown or cinematic color cast that may otherwise appear.
Because the projects involved are changing quickly, anyone attempting the installation should use the original Reiza forum guide together with the current instructions supplied by each GitHub project.
DLSS 5 in AMS2 Is Impressive, but Not Ready for Racing
The most interesting part of this experiment is not that Automobilista 2 suddenly has a new graphics option.
It does not.
What the project demonstrates is that NVIDIA’s Neural Rendering technology can already be pushed into a racing simulator without native DLSS support by using community-developed tools to reconstruct the data the system requires.
The resulting image can be impressive. Cars can appear better integrated with the circuit, shadows can become more convincing and certain materials and lighting conditions gain additional depth.
But the limitations are equally obvious.
Artifacts remain possible, compatibility is unofficial and the performance cost currently makes the setup difficult to recommend for serious racing. Halving frame rates is especially problematic in a simulator where smooth motion and responsive controls matter considerably more than they do when capturing a static screenshot.
For now, the AMS2 implementation is best treated as an experimental preview of what neural rendering could eventually bring to racing simulators.
An official implementation would have direct access to the engine’s motion vectors, depth information, lighting data and rendering pipeline, potentially allowing developers to produce a much cleaner and more efficient result.
There is currently no indication that Reiza Studios plans to add DLSS 5 to Automobilista 2.
But the fact that modders already have the technology running inside AMS2 makes this one of the more interesting early demonstrations of what NVIDIA’s new rendering approach could eventually mean for sim racing.
