Automobilista 2 V1.6.9.9 Now Available: New DLC, Physics Improvements and more

Automobilista 2 V1.6.9.9

Automobilista 2 continues to evolve with the release of Update V1.6.9.9, a new build that not only introduces several new cars as part of the Historical Endurance Pack Pt.2, but also delivers significant improvements to the game’s physics, artificial intelligence, and visual representation of changing weather conditions.

This update marks another important step toward the highly anticipated Version 1.7, scheduled for release in Q3 2026, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive overhaul of the driving model across most of the simulator’s vehicle classes.

Historical Endurance Pack Pt.2 Expands the Golden Era of 2000s GT Racing

One of the biggest highlights of the update is the arrival of the Historical Endurance Pack Pt.2, a new downloadable content pack focused on mid-2000s endurance racing.

The DLC introduces several iconic GT race cars, including the Lister Storm GTM and the Saleen S7-R, both joining the GT1 2005 class. They are accompanied by the Spyker C8 GT2-R, Panoz Esperante GTLM, and TVR T400R, all added to the GT2 category, while the Gillet Vertigo Streiff becomes part of the GTR 2004 class.

The update also adds the Maserati Grandsport to the Maserati Trofeo class.

As a bonus for the entire community, Reiza Studios has made the Milano 55 GT1 available as free content for all players, regardless of whether they purchase the DLC.

Following the studio’s usual release strategy, all players will have temporary access to the DLC content during the first few days after launch. The expansion itself is not yet available for purchase due to Steam’s weekend DLC publishing restrictions, with its official store page expected to go live shortly afterward.

The Update Continues to Lay the Groundwork for Automobilista 2 V1.7

Much of the work included in Version 1.6.9.9 is aimed at preparing for the upcoming V1.7 update, which will introduce a complete overhaul of the driving dynamics across nearly every racing discipline in the simulator.

Over the past several months, Reiza Studios has been extensively revising the physics model, including updates to tire behavior, aerodynamics, default setups, and weight distribution.

The following categories already feature advanced physics revisions:

  • LMDh and GTP
  • LMP2 (Generation 1 & 2)
  • DPi
  • GT1, GT2 2005, GTE, and GT3
  • GT4 and GT5
  • Porsche Cup
  • Group A and Group C
  • Hypercars
  • Stock Car Pro Series
  • Super V8
  • Most historic and modern Formula classes
  • Several Copa series, Caterham classes, and production-based vehicles

Although these revisions are already playable, the studio notes that additional refinements will continue leading up to the release of Version 1.7.

Meanwhile, several classes—including GT Classics, Karting, Rallycross, Copa Truck, and various classic Stock Car categories—are still awaiting their full physics revisions.

Artificial Intelligence Receives Major Wet Weather Improvements

One of the most significant technical additions in this update is the introduction of dedicated AI wet racing lines.

Until now, AI drivers generally followed the standard racing line even when the track was soaked. With Version 1.6.9.9, computer-controlled opponents are now capable of moving away from the heavily rubbered racing line to search for areas of the track that provide better grip, closely replicating how real racing drivers approach wet conditions.

These wet racing lines must be created manually for each circuit, meaning support will continue to expand gradually until the release of Version 1.7.

The first circuits to receive dedicated wet racing lines include multiple layouts of:

  • Barcelona
  • mola
  • Hungaroring
  • Interlagos
  • Monza 2005
  • Spa-Francorchamps (1993, 2005, 2020, and 2022)

In addition to the new wet-line system, the AI has also received several important improvements, including:

  • Fuel strategy logic for endurance and timed races.
  • Defensive driving during the opening lap.
  • Aerodynamic setup adjustments for high-speed circuits.
  • Improved overtaking and braking behavior.
  • Additional calibration for every class already using the upcoming V1.7 physics revisions.

Visual Enhancements for Wet Weather and Dynamic Track Conditions

Another major highlight of the update is the extensive work done on the simulator’s weather visuals.

Version 1.6.9.9 introduces new lighting, shader, and texture improvements that make transitions between dry and wet track surfaces significantly more realistic while also enhancing the visual evolution of track conditions throughout a racing session.

Several water-related visual effects have also been refined, including better synchronization between diffuser spray and tire spray particles, resulting in a more convincing appearance during heavy rain.

These improvements further enhance the dynamic weather system that has become one of Automobilista 2‘s defining features, delivering an even more immersive racing experience.

More Fixes for Audio, User Interface, and Tracks

The update also includes numerous smaller improvements designed to polish the overall experience.

Among the most notable changes are:

  • New sound effects for driving through puddles.
  • Fixes for occasional audio artifacts affecting crowds and certain replay cameras.
  • A correction to the German localization of the Indianapolis 2005 RC circuit.
  • Fuel tank position adjustments for several vehicle classes.
  • A small terrain fix on the Barcelona circuit.
  • The addition of a default intermediate tire setup option for the McLaren MP4/12.

An Update That Sets the Stage for One of the Simulator’s Biggest Evolutions

While Version 1.6.9.9 delivers plenty of new content and meaningful improvements on its own, its primary purpose is to pave the way for Automobilista 2 V1.7, an update expected to fundamentally enhance the simulator’s driving experience.

With overhauled physics, significantly smarter AI in wet conditions, and major visual improvements to dynamic weather, Reiza Studios continues to refine every aspect of the simulator, further strengthening Automobilista 2‘s position as one of the leading racing simulators available today.
