Best F1 Mods for Assetto Corsa EVO in 2026

Assetto Corsa EVO’s Formula 1 modding scene is finally beginning to take shape. Following the release of KUNOS Simulazioni’s official car SDK, creators have started bringing complete modern and historic Grand Prix grids to EVO, with full 2026 seasons now available alongside recreations of 2006 and 1994. There are also a couple of free cars that provide an easy way to try F1-style modding before paying for a complete package.

Assetto Corsa EVO already includes the officially licensed Ferrari F2004 and Ferrari SF-25, but those cars do not provide a complete Formula 1 grid. Community projects are therefore currently the only way to recreate entire seasons with multiple teams and cars.

The situation is also very different from the original Assetto Corsa. EVO’s official SDK only arrived in June 2026 and initially concentrated on custom cars, while multiplayer support for community vehicles followed with Update 0.8. As a result, the number of genuinely EVO-compatible F1 mods remains much smaller than the huge AC1 catalogue.

Best F1 Mods for Assetto Corsa EVO Right Now

The Race Project Formula One 2026 v3.0 is one of the most ambitious current attempts to recreate the complete 2026 grid in Assetto Corsa EVO. The latest EVO release includes every team and car, with scratch-built 3D models, team-specific liveries, driver helmets, wet and intermediate tyres, revised AI, damage effects, custom sounds and physics developed around the new 2026 regulations.

The project also attempts to recreate the new generation’s active aerodynamics and energy deployment systems, although there are important EVO limitations. Assetto Corsa EVO does not use CSP or Lua in the same way as AC1, so The Race Project has rebuilt those functions around EVO’s available car systems. Active aero is operated through the game’s DRS input, while the overtake deployment maps cannot currently enforce every real-world condition involving race session, lap number or distance to the car ahead.

The project is also receiving frequent updates. Version 3.0 includes additional special liveries, revised physics and energy deployment, improved AI, updated sounds and further work across the complete grid.

Sim Dream Grand Prix 2026 is the other major option for players wanting a complete contemporary grid. Version 3.0 was released on October 2 and the creator lists all 2026 cars and drivers, individual 3D models and sounds, different performance levels between teams and physics designed around the 2026 regulations.

The package also implements its interpretation of the new active-aero system through what the creator calls X-Mode. Sim Dream openly describes the current EVO version as experimental because Assetto Corsa EVO itself remains in Early Access and some functionality is still undocumented or unavailable.

For players who do not need an entire grid, Sim Dream also sells several 2026 cars individually. More importantly, its VF-26 is currently free, making it a useful way to test the creator’s approach before deciding whether the complete package is worthwhile.

Grand Prix 2006 is currently one of the more interesting options for anyone more interested in classic Formula racing. Sim Dream released version 1.0 for EVO on October 8, recreating the era of high-revving naturally aspirated cars with different performance characteristics between teams, individual models and sounds and period-inspired physics.

The creator also lists 16 tracks from the 2006 season as part of the package. However, this content is labelled Early Access and deserves an additional warning: KUNOS’ first official EVO SDK release concentrated on cars, with official custom-track tools scheduled for a later stage. Third-party circuits and conversions should therefore be treated as more experimental than officially supported community cars.

ACFL F1 1994 is considerably cheaper and targets another very different Formula 1 era. The €4.99 EVO package includes all 14 teams from the 1994 recreation, making it one of the most affordable ways to obtain a complete historic grid.

ACFL is also unusually clear about the current state of the project. The creator describes this as the first version and says physics, sounds, textures, materials and appearance remain under development while EVO continues to evolve.

There is also a free way to try it. ACFL has released its 1994 McLaren for Assetto Corsa EVO at no cost, so players can install that car before purchasing the complete 14-team pack.

What to Know Before Installing F1 Mods in Assetto Corsa EVO

KUNOS officially opened Assetto Corsa EVO to custom cars with Update 0.7 in June. The new SDK uses a PBR material pipeline, LOD management and support for visual and mechanical variants, giving creators tools much closer to EVO’s own internal vehicle-production workflow.

Update 0.8 subsequently enabled community-created cars in multiplayer. Server operators can use SHA verification to ensure every participant is running the expected version of a vehicle, which makes custom-car racing considerably more practical for leagues and private events.

Track modding remains a more complicated area. KUNOS specifically stated when the first SDK arrived that the initial release focused on the car editor and that official track tools would follow later. Packs advertising custom or converted circuits may work, but their compatibility and stability should not be assumed to match native EVO cars.

It is also important not to buy an Assetto Corsa 1 mod assuming that it will automatically work in EVO. The two games use different content pipelines, and while conversion tools and community workflows now exist, a native or creator-supported EVO release remains the safer choice.

For a modern 2026 grid, The Race Project and Sim Dream currently provide the two most complete options. For historic Formula racing, the newly released Sim Dream 2006 package offers the broadest season recreation, while ACFL’s inexpensive 1994 grid is an easier entry point. Anyone who simply wants to experiment first can start with the free Sim Dream VF-26 or ACFL McLaren 1994.

With Assetto Corsa EVO’s SDK still developing, this list is likely to change considerably. More established Assetto Corsa mod creators are expected to explore EVO as its tools mature, so the selection of high-quality Formula cars should expand beyond the relatively small group currently available.

If you do not own the game yet, Assetto Corsa EVO is available on PC, and the original Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition remains the reference point for what a mature modding scene looks like.

See you on the track!
