You all know that, due to its relevance in the world of simulators, we keep track of all the companies that develop them. Codemasters, under the umbrella of EA, is one of the most well-known and holds numerous licenses. Apparently, it is not immune to layoffs either.
EA being EA, nothing unusual given their history of acquisitions and decisions. We can look at DICE and the Battlefield series in the past as examples. In the case of Codemasters, they believed the promises when, at the time of the acquisition, they were assured independence and resources to continue doing what they did best – making money with car games. Now we receive the news that part of the more than 700 employees will see their careers cut short in the company.
Shortly after the acquisition, both the CEO and the CFO left Codemasters. So, despite the profits generated by EA during this year and the releases by Codemasters, including F1 23 and EA Sports WRC, it seems that it won’t be enough for some to enjoy the festive season.
