Thrustmaster: A Date for the Direct Drive Steering Wheel

Thrustmaster listened users and let us some time without teasers and empty content. Now we have a date to see what they have been working on. Direct Drive steering wheel base will be revealed and then we can talk about what has been a long time.

We’ve been summoned to November 17 at 4pm CET on their Twitch channel. That’s almost two more months from today. That’s practically a year since the news was released that they were working on something to take on Fanatec. Along the way we have new contenders and a much tougher scenario than competing solely against Fanatec. Moza Racing R9 , Asetek, Cammus, XXX, etc have products that can take away part of a market that until 2020 was practically assured.

In the review of the T-GT II we considered the issue of lost time. The five years that had passed since the first version to present the same product with barely any innovations. Logitech sinned of the same, and now they find that one of their strongholds with less investment in R & D may be almost completely lost. We’ll see if the proposal presented by Thrustmaster in November is enough for many to jump on board.

We remind you of what is known:

  • All current Thrustmaster add-ons are compatible, so the connection system is the same.
The hexagonal shaped light is because of the shape of the base (if you turn up the brightness it looks complete), which is also hexagonal and maintains grooves on 3 sides to increase cooling to the shape the CSL DD has. The hexagonal shape means that it can only be anchored to the underside of current trays.
  • The hexagonal shaped light is almost certainly an aesthetic embellishment that forms part of the base at the front.
  • The base is announced for PC, as a PlayStation product is more time consuming due to Sony’s involvement and licensing.

At the moment it looks like that’s all.

See you on the track!
