Corvette C8.R coming to iRacing!

Update: iRacing confirms in its forums that they are NOT going to increase the number of different cars in a session to 8, so they are going to replace another GTE in the Le Mans and IMSA series. In the case of IMSA the Ford GTE will leave its place to the new Corvette GTE, and in Le Mans it is the BMW GTE who will give up its place to the Corvette GTE. We have also been confirmed that the LMP2 will replace the C7 DP at IMSA and the HPD at Le Mans.

Original post: In a small video taken from nowhere on Corvette Racing’s Twitter, they have revealed that they have time working together with iRacing to get the Corvette C8.R in the GTE category for the next season starting in mid-September. And as we already know, all the new content in iRacing is released in week 13 of each season (this season is week 14) so we will be able to test it in less than 1 week.

This car would enter to participate in 4 series: IMSA, Le Mans Series, Le Mans Endurance and GT Endurance. But there is a small problem.

Currently iRacing only allows 7 different cars per series. In the case of the IMSA we have the C7, the 4 GTE and 2 GT3. And in the case of the Le Mans we have the 2 LMP1, the HPD (which will be replaced by the LMP2) and the 4 GTE. With this new car in these series, the count would go up to 8, but still iRacing does not say if the Corvette will replace any other GTE or if they will raise the count of cars to choose 7.

The Chevrolet Corvette C8.R runs on a 5.5L natural-breathing V8 mid-engine, making it a beast on the road with a sound many will love from the first time they hear it. In the current season of the real IMSA they are dominating almost every race, with 4 victories in 5 races and among the drivers who drive it is the Spanish Antonio Garcia, multiple winner of the 24h of Le Mans and Daytona in his category, and multiple champion of the full IMSA championships with the old Corvette C7.R and is the current leader of the championship.
