Just weeks away from the global release of F1 25, scheduled for May 30, Electronic Arts and Formula 1 have unveiled the highly anticipated official driver ratings for the game.
The reveal took place during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, where championship drivers shared their reactions, jokes, and analysis of their scores alongside host Ariana Bravo, who led the discussion as the game’s chief ratings officer.
The F1 25 rating system is based on a combination of real-world data, recent on-track performance, and evaluations from a panel of experts. Each driver’s rating directly impacts gameplay, especially in the “My Team” mode, where players must select and manage drivers for their own racing team. These ratings also affect AI behavior during races, aiming to authentically reflect each driver’s real-life abilities.
Five Criteria to Measure Performance
The ratings are determined using five key categories:
- Experience (EXP): The number of races a driver has participated in throughout their career.
- Racecraft (RAC): A driver’s ability to gain positions and perform under pressure.
- Awareness (AWA): Reflects clean and precise driving.
- Pace (PAC): Based on qualifying and race lap times compared to their teammate.
- Overall Rating (RTG): A weighted result of the above categories, with greater emphasis on pace.
Verstappen Tops the Rankings
Max Verstappen leads the standings with an overall rating of 95, excelling in both racecraft (96) and pace (96), solidifying his role as the benchmark on the grid. Close behind are Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris, each with a rating of 91, showcasing strong skill and speed that reflect their growing prominence this season.
Other standout names include Carlos Sainz Jr. (90) and George Russell (90), while legends like Lewis Hamilton (89) and Fernando Alonso (88) maintain strong scores, buoyed by their vast experience—each boasting over 98 points in that category.
At the other end of the spectrum are rising stars such as Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto, Jack Doohan, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, with overall ratings between 72 and 74, reflecting both their limited experience and untapped potential.
