NVIDIA does not dominate the market purely through brute force. In simulation, where every frame matters, the difference is made by technologies such as DLSS Super Resolution, optimized ray tracing, and an increasingly refined RTX ecosystem.
Even though competitors offer very competitive alternatives in terms of price, in sim racing
stability and efficiency matter more than a few theoretical extra FPS.
Running at native resolution with triple screens, ultrawide monitors, or virtual reality is becoming increasingly demanding. Highly detailed environments, dynamic weather, and full grids push any system to its limits.
This is where DLSS 4.5 becomes especially interesting:
- Boosts FPS without sacrificing asphalt clarity
- Improves frame rate stability, crucial for precise driving
- Reduces GPU load during starts with many cars on track
In simulators, this translates into cleaner racing lines and more consistent driving.
DLSS 4.5 leaves beta and is enabled for everyone
With the NVIDIA App update to version 11.0.6.379, DLSS 4.5 is no longer limited to beta users and is now available to all RTX owners.
Activation is straightforward:
- Per simulator, from the graphics menu
- Globally, via Graphics → Global Settings → Presets → Recommended
NVIDIA has also fine-tuned its internal models:
- Model M for Performance
- Model L for Ultra Performance
- Model K for Quality and Balanced
In sim racing, the Balanced preset is often the sweet spot between track sharpness and consistent smoothness.
Improvements designed for advanced setups
This version includes several features especially useful for simulation:
- Quick access to Surround modes, ideal for triple-monitor setups
- Debug mode for real-time performance monitoring
- Multiple bug fixes affecting captures, recordings, and overlays
They may seem like small tweaks, but they make a real difference in complex rigs where everything needs to work flawlessly.
Compatible simulators and a promising future
Several relevant titles for the sim racing community can now take advantage of DLSS Override, opening the door to better performance without waiting for specific patches.
- Assetto Corsa Rally
- Project Motor Racing
- Wreckreation
For those of us who prioritize absolute stability on track, this is an important step forward.
See you on the track!
