With the 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC) season coming to an end, EA Sports has rolled out an exciting update for EA Sports WRC, introducing two new rally locations: Rally Poland and Rally Latvia.
This update brings fresh content and aesthetic upgrades, giving players a deeper and more immersive rally experience.
What’s New in EA Sports WRC 2024?
The latest EA Sports WRC update expands the game’s calendar with two of the most anticipated rallies of the 2024 season: Rally Poland and Rally Latvia. Integrating these new locations wasn’t without its challenges, as developers had to gather real-world data during the events, which took place in June and July.
Now, players can experience these meticulously designed stages, complete with realistic environmental details and terrain types. Alongside the new locations, EA Sports has also included reworked liveries for Rally1 hybrid cars and new teams for the 2024 season.
Rally Poland and Rally Latvia: The New Heart of EA Sports WRC
Rally Poland has long been a fan favorite due to its fast-paced stages. In the game, it features long gravel roads that transition into brief stretches of tarmac, particularly when passing through small towns. The longest special stage, Swietajno, spans 18.5 km, offering players the perfect opportunity to push their skills to the limit. Players need to be cautious when moving between different surfaces, as the vehicle’s soft suspension—optimized for gravel—can behave unpredictably on asphalt.
On the other hand, Rally Latvia challenges players with its longer, more technical stages. The Latvian countryside presents tight, winding roads through dense forests, making precision and quick reactions essential. The abundance of gravel surfaces in Latvia adds to the intensity, with only brief moments of relief on softer dirt sections. Both rallies offer players the chance to experience the thrill of WRC’s high-speed, high-stakes environment.
Gameplay Mechanics and Stage Layouts
The Rally Poland and Rally Latvia updates bring a unique set of challenges for players, especially when navigating the various terrain types. Gravel is the dominant surface in both rallies, with different thicknesses affecting vehicle handling. Players will need to master lateral drifting to keep their cars under control, especially at high speeds through long straightaways or zigzagging forest paths.
Each rally consists of 12 stages, but they are designed to be raced in two directions, effectively doubling the variety. Stages vary in length and difficulty, ranging from short (<5 minutes) Super Stages to longer, more grueling stages that last over 10 minutes.
Visual and Aesthetic Enhancements
EA Sports has also delivered a visual overhaul with 52 new liveries for the Rally1 hybrid cars—Toyota YARIS, Hyundai i20 N, and Ford Puma. These fresh designs complement the game’s hyper-realistic environments, which capture the natural beauty of Poland and Latvia’s landscapes.
