The new Formula 1 season kicks off at the classic Bahrain circuit where preseason testing took place last week. This year, we start with the same drivers and teams as last year, and few novelties are expected. We’ll see the confirmation or denial of some surprises from the last season, and it will be the most important year for other drivers who aim to stay in this top category.
As always, the Sakhir circuit is a benchmark in these years it has been in F1, and Pedro de la Rosa still holds the track record.
The Bahrain International Circuit (in Arabic حلبة البحرين الدولية baraahin al-intarnals wadjaviyaa), also known as the Sakhir International Circuit, is a racing circuit located in the desert area of Sakhir, within the Southern Governorate of the country, approximately 31 km from the capital Manama. Since 2004, it has been the current venue for the Bahrain Grand Prix in Formula 1, being at the time the first race held in the Middle East within said category.
