The classic of classics returns to Formula 1 after the failed attempt in Imola. The circus’s return to Europe signifies the reunion with the circuit that sets the tone for the entire F1 calendar. For those who don’t know, Monaco is the pivot around which the entire F1 year revolves in terms of dates, and the Monaco GP, in turn, is governed by Ascension Day, which in 2023 fell on Thursday, May 18th. Previously, Friday was not a racing day due to this fact, but this practice has fallen into disuse, and with so many races, it doesn’t even fall in the same week anymore, although always close.
As always, before a GP, we bring you some mods with which you can enjoy the corresponding circuit in Assetto Corsa . For now, F1 will visit the principality until 2025, which seems long considering how short and narrow the track has become for the current F1 cars. The circuit is an urban layout full of bumps and surrounded by walls along the way as we go up and down slopes. It is the slowest and most complex track in terms of overtaking in the championship. The schedule for CEST Europe is as follows:
Friday, May 26th
13:30 hours: Free Practice 1
17:00 hours: Free Practice 2
Saturday, May 27th
12:30 hours: Free Practice 3
16:00 hours: Qualifying
Sunday, May 28th
15:00 hours: Race
Despite starting with rain last year, and with a delay to avoid any major incidents, the top positions were decided on lap 17 with Ferrari’s disastrous pit stop that cost Leclerc the victory on his home track. Let’s see if there are any surprises this year and how the drivers perform. It might be a window for an after-lunch nap.
