Everything is ready for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual 2023, which will take place on January 14th and 15th, 2023. The race is the fifth and final round of the Le Mans Virtual Series 2022-23 and the last race in which professional esports and motorsport drivers will compete for a share of the $250,000 prize pool.
The Race
The race takes place on the rFactor 2 simulation platform by Studio 397, specifically reproducing the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the real world. Teams will race continuously for two 24-hour periods, with driver changes and varying weather conditions creating challenges for the event. Esports teams such as Redline, Floyd Vanwall-Burst, AMG Team Williams Esports, Porsche Coanda, Alpine Esports, Oracle Red Bull Corse, and AMG Team Petronas Esports will be present on the grid.
Categories
The teams will compete in two categories: LMP2 and GTE. In the LMP2 category, the teams will use the rFactor 2 Oreca 07 LMP2 car for the challenge. In the GTE category, teams can choose between the Aston Martin Vantage GTE, BMW M8 GTE, Ferrari 488 GTE, or Porsche 911 RSR GTE.
Standings
In the GTE category, after four races and one round left, the BMW Team Redline is in first place in the standings with 83 points. The Porsche 911 GTE of Oracle Red Bull Racing is 24.5 points behind in second place. In the LMP2 category, Team Redline is in first place with 78 points. The Dutch team has an 18-point advantage over Floyd Vanwall-Burst in second place and a 20-point lead over Porsche Coanda in third.
Broadcast
The final race of the series will be broadcast live on the 24 Heuers du Mans, FIA WEC, and European Le Mans Series YouTube channels and on the FIA WEC and Le Mans Virtual Facebook pages.
