F1 2022 – Crossplay, Supercars and VR

Tom Henderson, who has leaked data from several EA games in the past, has shared information obtained regarding what would be the next installment of the official F1 videogame. We are talking about the 2022 edition, the first edition developed entirely by Codemasters under EA‘s ownership.

In this alleged leak about new features of the game, it mentions that it will be the first edition that will feature crossplay between PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Something that resembles the leaks a few days ago of FIFA 23 that also points to the same type of crossplay. Being both EA games and that by its own gameplay and concept easily lends itself to crossplay, it is not something so far-fetched to think.

In addition, it indicates that the game would have a new F1 Life section, a kind of experience where we can follow the trajectories of the drivers in reality, where we can buy items. This scares me a bit because it looks like it will open the door for NFTs to be added to the game. On the other hand, this same feature will allow you to buy supercars and compete with them in any of the tracks of the game on your own or against other players. The leak talks specifically about Supercars, but does not add much more, so we do not know if it will be exactly the Australian Supercars or any other of the support races that take place on Grand Prix weekends.

He also tells us that there will be the possibility of enjoying a virtual reality experience with support for VR glasses. This, in theory, would come only for PC and PlayStation, as Xbox does not have support for VR glasses.

All this would come at the expense of the “Braking Point” story mode that we could enjoy in F1 2021, however, all other game modes would be included in the final version of the game.

See you on the track!
