The Formula One Canadian Grand Prix will be held this weekend at the Montreal Gilles Villeneuve Circuit. It’s an eye-catching circuit because it’s set on an artificial island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. The island was constructed from the earth from the city’s subway infrastructure and is used for recreation during the summer.

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (officially Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in French), also called Circuit de Montréal, is a street racing circuit located on Île Notre-Dame, an artificial island located in the St. Lawrence River and part of Jean-Drapeau Park in the city of Montréal, province of Quebec, Canada.

The circuit originally had the name Circuit Île Notre-Dame. Its current name is due to the Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve, born in Quebec and winner of the 1978 Canadian Grand Prix, after he died during the qualifying rounds of the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix.
Here is what this circuit will look like in the official F1 22 .
