Fanatec has released a new hotfix for stability problems affecting some Gran Turismo DD Pro wheelbases following Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.71.
The problems emerged after the August 20 update, which introduced substantial force feedback changes and officially enabled FullForce effects on the PlayStation-compatible Gran Turismo DD Pro.
Users subsequently reported wheelbase disconnections, complete loss of force feedback and abnormal steering behaviour. In more serious cases, drivers described the wheel suddenly oscillating or applying strong forces before the base shut down or required a restart.
Fanatec initially investigated the reports alongside Polyphony Digital and issued temporary guidance advising affected users to reduce the FullForce strength setting. The company has now followed that investigation with a dedicated software and firmware hotfix.
Fanatec App v1.5.4.1 targets GT7 1.71 problems
Fanatec App v1.5.4.1 was released on September 3, 2026 and is specifically described by Fanatec as a hotfix for the CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro.
According to the official Fanatec v1.5.4.1 release notes, the update addresses several stability problems that appeared following Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.71.
Fanatec lists three specific GT7-related issues as fixed:
- Force feedback loss
- Rapid wheel oscillation
- Unexpected wheelbase shutdowns
The same hotfix also addresses heavy oscillations that could occur when returning to driving after leaving menus in selected PC titles, including RaceRoom Racing Experience, rFactor 2 and BeamNG.drive.
This means the previous situation has changed significantly: there is now an official Fanatec-side fix specifically targeting the GT7 1.71 stability problems.
Does the Fanatec hotfix completely solve the problem?
Fanatec’s official changelog describes the GT7 stability problems as fixed, and several Gran Turismo DD Pro owners have reported successfully running Gran Turismo 7 after installing v1.5.4.1, including with FullForce enabled at its maximum setting.
However, community feedback is not yet completely consistent.
Some users are still reporting oscillations, loss of wheel inputs or shutdown behaviour after installing the hotfix. Other CSL DD and GT DD Pro owners report that the update has resolved their problems entirely.
That does not necessarily mean the Fanatec fix is ineffective. Similar symptoms can originate from different firmware, configuration, USB or game-specific conditions, and the remaining reports do not establish that every problem has the same underlying cause.
For now, the safest description is therefore that Fanatec v1.5.4.1 is the official fix for the known GT7 1.71 stability issues, but users are still evaluating whether every affected configuration has been resolved.
What happened with FullForce in GT7 Update 1.71?
Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.71 made unusually substantial changes to steering hardware and force feedback alongside its wider tyre, suspension and physics revisions.
According to the official Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.71 patch notes, Polyphony Digital adjusted force feedback behaviour and revised parameters affecting several steering systems.
More importantly for Fanatec owners, the update officially enabled FullForce feedback effects on the Gran Turismo DD Pro.
Fanatec had already added FullForce capability to the hardware through firmware earlier in 2026, but Gran Turismo 7 required game-side support before the additional effects could be generated.
FullForce adds a high-frequency feedback layer on top of conventional force feedback, allowing compatible games to transmit finer vibrations and surface information through supported Direct Drive wheelbases.
The strength of these effects is controlled through the FUL setting in the Fanatec Tuning Menu.

What happened to the FullForce workaround?
Before v1.5.4.1 was released, Fanatec recommended reducing FUL below 100 for affected Gran Turismo DD Pro users. If disconnections or unexpected steering behaviour continued, owners were advised to reduce the setting further or temporarily disable FullForce.
That recommendation was a precaution while Fanatec investigated the underlying problem rather than a permanent solution.
With v1.5.4.1 now available, installing the latest Fanatec software and firmware is the more important first step. The release notes specifically identify the new version as the hotfix for the GT7 1.71 problems.
If abnormal behaviour continues after updating, reducing or disabling FullForce remains a sensible troubleshooting step while the remaining user reports are investigated.
Gran Turismo 7 remains on Version 1.71
As of September 5, 2026, Gran Turismo 7 itself remains on Version 1.71. Polyphony Digital has not released a separate GT7 1.72 corrective patch for the wheelbase issue.
The current correction therefore comes from the Fanatec side through App v1.5.4.1 and its associated firmware, rather than through another Gran Turismo update.
This is significant because Fanatec had previously been determining whether the issue required changes from its own firmware or from Polyphony Digital. The release of a dedicated CSL DD / GT DD Pro hotfix shows that Fanatec has been able to address at least the identified stability problems within its own software stack.
How to update the Gran Turismo DD Pro
Gran Turismo DD Pro owners can download the latest version through Fanatec’s official software support section.
Fanatec currently lists v1.5.4.1 as the latest Fanatec App release. The company recommends connecting the wheelbase directly to a Windows PC rather than using a USB hub or extension cable when performing firmware updates.
Owners should then use the Fanatec App Firmware Manager to install the available firmware for their connected hardware.
As with any wheelbase firmware update, it is worth recording existing Tuning Menu settings before beginning the process, particularly for console users who may need to reconnect the base to their PlayStation setup afterwards.
This is separate from earlier GT DD Pro disconnection issues
Gran Turismo DD Pro owners have reported other connectivity and firmware-related problems in the past, but those should not automatically be treated as the same issue.
