Fanatec, a brand of Corsair (NASDAQ: CRSR), has revealed a slate of announcements during its Spring Showcase event, reinforcing a strategy focused on expanding ecosystem flexibility and optimizing the performance of its existing hardware. The announcements range from new peripherals to firmware updates that directly impact the sim racing experience.
ClubSport Formula V3: ergonomic evolution and enhanced telemetry

One of the key launches is the ClubSport Formula V3, which replaces the well-known Formula V2.5 with a redesign that spans both form and function. The new steering wheel increases its diameter to 290 mm, making it more versatile across different types of race cars in sim racing.
Among its standout upgrades is a larger display featuring Intelligent Telemetry Mode, capable of showing dynamic data such as lap times, deltas, and tire temperatures. This direction aligns with the broader trend toward more informative and immersive user interfaces.
In terms of inputs, Fanatec has refined the resistance of the thumb-operated rotary dials, added push functionality, and expanded the central rotary selector to 12 positions. It also replaces the analog joystick with a second FunkySwitch, aligning with more precise and consistent configurations for advanced users.
Fanatec Wheel Hub: opening the ecosystem to third-party hardware

Another significant strategic move is the introduction of the Fanatec Wheel Hub, an adapter specifically designed to enable third-party USB steering wheels to be used with the brand’s Direct Drive wheel bases.
Constructed from die-cast aluminum, the device features standard mounting patterns (6 x 70 mm and 6 x 50.8 mm) along with the QR2 quick release system. Unlike the Podium Hub—geared toward modular builds using Fanatec components—this new product aims to lower entry barriers in both cost and compatibility.
The company has also confirmed collaborations with approved manufacturers to offer the Wheel Hub as the default Fanatec compatibility option on their respective platforms, signaling a shift toward a more open and competitive ecosystem.
Podium Pedals: mechanical precision and consistency-focused design

Fanatec also shared pricing and availability details for its upcoming Podium Pedals, positioned as its flagship pedal set. With a launch price of €699.95, these pedals are engineered to maximize mechanical precision and adjustability—two critical factors in improving driver input consistency.
From a strategic standpoint, this product targets the premium segment, where hardware fidelity translates directly into competitive advantages in high-level simulation environments.
Performance updates: more torque and greater realism
Beyond hardware, Fanatec has announced meaningful software-driven improvements. A forthcoming driver update will increase the torque output of its Direct Drive wheel bases:
- ClubSport DD: from 12 Nm to 15 Nm (+25%)
- ClubSport DD+: from 15 Nm to 18 Nm (+20%)
This increase not only raises peak force but also expands the dynamic range of force feedback, enhancing detail perception and overall immersion.
Additionally, FullForce technology—an advanced physics-based vibration layer—will be introduced to models such as CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. These upgrades will be delivered free of charge via firmware updates, reinforcing the value proposition of existing hardware.
Strategy: a more flexible ecosystem and continuous optimization
Statements from Tobias Stelzer, VP and General Manager at Fanatec, underline a clear direction: provide greater freedom in how users configure their setups while extending hardware longevity through continuous optimization.
Taken together, the Spring Showcase announcements reflect a dual approach. On one hand, an expanded product lineup addressing new needs (compatibility, ergonomics, premium hardware). On the other, a strong emphasis on enhancing performance without requiring additional investment—an important differentiator in an increasingly competitive market.
