We have been showing you about the different simulators and cockpits that drivers have at home, both F1 drivers and those who race in different categories. One of the most involved with virtual motorsport as an investment is Fernando Alonso, who although he doesn’t race as much at home (due among other things to his possibilities of doing it on a real car) as he would like, he doesn’t hide when the season is over.
This winter we have been able to see him in LMP2 in iRacing doing series in Daytona, surely also in rFactor 2, of which he is an investor through Motorsport Games and which seeks to position itself as an increasingly refined and complete product.
Once the F1 preseason begins, his dedication is 100% complete to his new Alpine team. With a bit more luck next year we will be able to see him fighting for the top positions if Renault‘s program is what the drivers themselves expect. Let’s not forget Ocon‘s renewal right now having other potential doors open in powerful teams.
Fernando currently has an Allinsport cockpit, but with some commercial elements. Starting with its hoop and base. Both are Fanatec, part of the Podium F1 bundle that includes PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 compatibility and that you can find in many of the drivers’ advanced simulators. The Podium bases are highly accurate and reliable Direct Drive motors that were introduced years ago with handcrafted developments such as OSW, which we have already talked about in our YouTube shows.
The pedals are handcrafted by the house that has provided the simulator for Fernando and it is a set of two pedals, possibly of dampers of similar feel to what could be high standing pedals like the SRP-GT.
A powerful PC of which we do not know specific specifications, but probably very similar to what we stick here every month.
The cockpit and seat are also Allinsport’s own, but it is nothing you will miss if you go to look a little in our cockpits section as for example those of IOVALUETECH, SimLab, etc..
The simulator comes with bodyshakers installed that allow greater immersion and fidelity with what would happen on a real track. Of the sets that are already sold prepared, we can mention the one from Zalem.
