Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 will have a paid upgrade

News broke this last weekend when some of PlayStation 5‘s exclusive titles would also appear on PlayStation 4, albeit with limitations. What started as the controversial announcement of Horizon Forbidden West PlayStation 4 editions has turned into juicy news about other titles in development by Sony such as Gran Turismo 7 and God of War. Sony has finally decided to back down and allow PlayStation 4 users to upgrade, not for free, but by paying a fee of $ 10 (10 euros).

Talking about it is when Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has let slip that this update method will apply to PlayStation 5 titles that will also be released on PlayStation 4, as we mentioned before, Gran Turismo 7 and God of War, thus confirming the existence of this version that would presumably be released alongside the flagship version of PlayStation 5 in 2022.

PlayStation first-party exclusive cross-gen titles (newly releasing on PS4 & PS5)–both digital and physical*–will offer a $10 USD digital upgrade option from PS4 to PS5. This will apply to the next God of War and Gran Turismo 7, and any other exclusive cross-gen PS4 & PS5

If this delays the development and release of PlayStation 5 version nobody knows, but it is a move of Sony pretending not losing that huge market share that they got in the previous generation. That would mean a relief facing the huge difficulty of finding and buying the new version.
