Gran Turismo racers, the highly anticipated Update 1.36 for Gran Turismo 7 is just around the corner! As officially confirmed by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, the update is set to drop on Monday, August 7. This date has been eagerly anticipated by players, especially since it was teased earlier as the day the Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition would be available to select players.
Typically, Yamauchi treats fans to silhouette images of upcoming cars a weekend before the update. However, this time, he took to Twitter early to reveal the exciting news a full eight days ahead of the event. The update will bring four new cars, and the anticipation is building as fans speculate on the surprises that await them.
The next update is coming on 7 August.

Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition: A Special Racecar
One of the confirmed cars is the Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition, which players can access in Sport Mode to practice for the final round of the 2023 Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup at Watkins Glen. The car, boasting 620 horsepower from its three-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine, is a powerful addition to the lineup. Players competing in any one round of the championship will receive this sleek ride as a gift at the end of the tournament on August 27.
Maserati MC20 and Chevrolet Corvette C1
The update promises to delight fans with two more exciting vehicles. First up is the Maserati MC20, a highly anticipated supercar featuring a jaw-dropping 620 horsepower, three-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine. Gran Turismo 7 will offer the fixed-head version of this remarkable machine, igniting the virtual racetracks with speed and style.
Next, we have a throwback to automotive history with the 1958 model of the Chevrolet Corvette C1. The classic charm of this first-generation Corvette will surely captivate vintage car enthusiasts and ignite nostalgia for fans of the early Gran Turismo editions.
The Unexpected: Toyota HiMedic Emergency Vehicle
The fourth car brings a surprising twist—a commercial van that doubles as an emergency vehicle. Based on the Toyota Hiace, the “HiMedic” adds a unique touch to the Gran Turismo 7 lineup. Interestingly, players may recall seeing this vehicle before—as a toy in the Tomica Town Scapes location!
Looking Beyond the Cars: Potential Surprises
While the vehicles themselves promise an exhilarating driving experience, fans are curious about the additional content the update may bring. Many are hoping for a new track, as it’s been some time since the last circuit additions. And with the update landing just days before the original premiere date for the Gran Turismo movie and the Gran Turismo World Series Showdown in Amsterdam, it’s possible that the update may include movie tie-ins or special in-game event races with exciting rewards.
Stay tuned for more information as we approach the release date.
