Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital have announced the availability of a new free content update for Gran Turismo®7, the driving title exclusive to PlayStation®. The May update offers all players a total of 5 new vehicles and new content to enhance the solo gaming experience.

Among the new additions is the return of the Swedish manufacturer Volvo to the Gran Turismo® series, reappearing with a bestseller and a family favorite. Additionally, Honda’s racing vehicle lineup includes the iconic NSX GT500 from the year 2000 with its legendary Castrol Mugen team livery.

These are the cars available in update 1.48:

Honda NSX GT500: custom design for the Japanese touring champion

The NSX development team made significant changes to this racing model in a genuine battle against Nissan and Toyota to win the Japanese Grand Touring Championship in 2000. They even repositioned the engine transversely, routed the exhaust pipes to the sides, and modified the gearbox size with a custom transmission. With all these changes, the Castrol Mugen NSX team secured Honda’s first Japanese championship in a historic season.

Honda Civic SiR–II: speed and comfort for the fifth generation of the Japanese bestseller

In this generation, the Civic began to feature the well-known VTEC engine, which gave it greater performance, earning the new model the nickname ‘Sports Civic’. The model had a wide range of engines, up to the 1.6L SiR that produced more than 167HP. The SiR-II version added a full set of comfort features such as air conditioning, power windows, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also included, for the first time, a 4-speed automatic version tuned to improve torque at low and medium speeds.

Nissan Skyline GTS-R: a monster with elegant lines

The seventh-generation R31 Skyline marked a change in direction for the company after its market release in August 1985. Compared to ‘high society’ models, the Skyline presented a somewhat discreet range, but everything changed with the arrival of this GTS-R, a true sports model of which only 800 units were manufactured. Its inline 6-cylinder engine generated 177.5 HP, which increased to over 200 thanks to the turbo and a new exhaust manifold. It was a great appetizer for the legendary R32 Skyline, now indeed called GT-R, which arrived two years later.

Volvo 240 SE Estate: the model that revolutionized the family car

Before the SUV boom, thinking about family cars and the acronym SW (Station Wagon) was synonymous with thinking about a Volvo. And this 240 SE Estate was the epitome of this trend. The 240 series debuted in the mid-70s and evolved into this 1993 model, retaining the original spirit of the range with square shapes from any angle, featuring a particularly long and slender silhouette. Inside, it incorporated cutting-edge safety equipment along with a modest but very robust engine.

Volvo V40 T5 R-Design: a worldwide success in all formats

Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012, this V40 was a milestone in the history of the Swedish brand, serving as a replacement for a sedan, a family car, and a three-door hatchback all at once. It also marked a break from the brand’s classic lines with a much more innovative style. This T5 R-Design is its sportiest version, with a turbocharged 5-cylinder engine reaching 213HP, providing quick acceleration, precise handling, and great driving comfort.

Along with these new additions, new content arrives to expand the gaming experience in Gran Turismo®7:

GT Café: Extra Menu No. 39 ‘Racers of the Japanese GT’ World Circuits:

  • European Sunday Cup 400
  • Japanese FF Challenge 450
  • Japanese FR Challenge 450
