GTR Revival: Straight4 Studios Announces New Physics Engine

Following the announcement of GTR Revival in the fall of 2022, the project presented by former Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell has made further progress, underscoring Bell and his team’s commitment to the racing simulation.

In the meantime, a name has been chosen for the studio developing GTR Revival: Straight4 Studios Ltd., which officially started work at the beginning of the year.

The name Straight4 was inspired by the inline-four engine of a Group 5 race car from Zakspeed, which happened to serve as a test vehicle for the brand-new physics engine. Instead of relying on old technology or a commercial engine, the heart of GTR Revival has been completely rewritten from the ground up by AJ Weber, Director of Physics and Simulation, and uses no old architecture. This approach is designed to provide sim racers with a modern simulation that is up to date.

This month, the studio further strengthened its team by hiring Tim Wheatley as Head of Licensing and Community Management. More details about the progress of the development of GTR Revival are expected.
