The world is evolving, and inclusivity is always being sought in all aspects, even for video games. Even big companies like Xbox are developing accessible controllers for people with disabilities. And now, for all those who can’t use their legs to accelerate and/or brake and have to look for a more complicated way to do so, there is a new solution. The Hand Controller HC1, manufactured by 3DRap, aims to help these people to drive cars on their PCs more comfortably. The device costs €90 for anyone who might be interested.
The device allows the user to operate the accelerator or brake in the game with two levers at the touch of their thumb, and as it is attached to the steering wheel it won’t get in the way or out of reach mid-corner. Like most pedals sold by leading racing wheel manufacturers, the controller’s two levers use Hall sensors and bearings to deliver a smooth, fluid response both in real life and transferred in-game.
The 3DRap controller is intended for use by simracers who might be left out of their favourite or newer racing games because they can’t use their feet to accelerate or brake.
