How Does Competition Benefit Sim Racing Consumers? Fanatec CSL DD P1 Bundle Is The Answer

A few months ago, I made a big upgrade for my simracing experience, I went from a G29 to a Moza R5, which due to some limitations, was the best fit for my situation. For me, it has been one of the best purchases I’ve made since I entered this world: my first DD, an excellent price, first class finish and compatibility with everything I use.

Just like me, many people who have been able to buy this product must have been equally delighted, so much so, that the guys at Fanatec have had to launch their own Direct Drive bundle to compete with it, and at a better price! If I could travel back in time, I would tell myself not to buy the Moza bundle and wait for the Fanatec one, not because Moza’s product is bad, but because the ecosystem offered by Fanatec and being able to save 100 quid is a hard offer to refuse.

And in general, this kind of competition is what we all need, both in hardware and software.Right now it was Fanatec, but maybe it will be Thrustmaster or Logitech in the future that will bring out better bundles, making it even more accessible to get into the Direct Drive experience, something that a few years ago I saw as something super elitist and out of my reach. But come on, years ago to have a Direct Drive was to invest more than $1000 easily, and today this Fanatec bundle only costs $150 more than Thrustmaster’s T248 at official prices.

Hopefully, in the realm of simulators, we’ll see an increase in genuine competition with a wider range of options. It’s possible that the introduction of Rennsport could be the solution that the community has been yearning for, but it’s also possible that it might not be the answer.Regardless, if it isn’t Rennsport, then let the other companies pull themselves together and deliver on their promises so that we can enjoy similar experiences across different simulators, without having to resort to third-party programs just to be able to compete in some of them. Healthy competition benefits everyone involved.
