How to Build José María ‘Pechito’ López’s SimRacing Setup?

Today, we review the cockpit of the champion Jose Maria Lopez, probably the most successful Argentinean driver in the country due to his many international successes.

Pechito López is known worldwide for being a three-time World Touring Car Champion with Citroën and having made the jump to the endurance world championship with Toyota, where he has fought with Fernando Alonso to become WEC champion with the Japanese brand. Pechito is no stranger to simulators and at least for some time he has been enjoying the track with the other simRacers in titles such as iRacing or rFactor 2.

Although they are images from some time ago, the fact is that the famous driver has a first class material that we detail in the following lines.

The triples configuration is quite common among the community with a set of three curved 27-inch monitors, possibly Samsung 60Hz. We have replaced them with current ones with better features.

The pedals are the Heusinkveld Ultimate which we have shown you many times already on the web. This time it’s the clutchless set, as the cars of the World Cup of cars don’t have them and it’s not usual in some countries either.

The base is an Augury OSW Simucube 1, with similar characteristics to a Simucube 2 Sport or Pro and provides a very reliable sensations. The set is completed with a Precision Simsteering wheel of high quality and very high price with carbon fiber finishes and made from a Sparco P310. We have replaced it with a similar model from Cube Controls.

The cockpit is made with aluminum profiles to support the forces exerted by the Direct Drive steering wheel. We do not guess the seat, but we assume a bucket to complete the set as it is the usual solution.

There is a Z1 dashboard, button panel, headset and sequential shifter from Manu Factory. There are no movement systems but we don’t know if there are any bodyshakers in its configuration.

José María López will try to win his first LeMans victory this year after several second places and we hope to see him on the virtual tracks again this winter.
