How to Build Juan Pablo Montoya’s Sim Racing Setup?

Today we bring you the simulator that the Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya has to practice and have fun at home. The Bogota native is one of the most remembered drivers in F1 for his aggressive overtaking maneuvers and one of the most missed over the years, with the feeling that he could have aspired to something bigger within the F1 circus. Once he finished his career in Europe he gave his best in the United States where he enjoyed the highest level of the IMSA after achieving great victories in Indycar and NASCAR.

Juan Pablo Montoya’s simulator is based on his association with WFG and AllinSports, companies that in one way or another we have also seen in Fernando Alonso’s simulator. His location in Florida makes AIS his provider for these needs, which leads him to have a simulator similar to the Spanish one.

The pedals are similar to Fernando’s, made only by Allinsport and is a set of two pedals, possibly springs and elastomers of lesser advance technology of other high standing pedals such as the NWS 3P, the Heusinkveld Ultimate, or the SRP-GT.

The steering wheel is a Direct Drive, possibly a Simucube 2 or 1 as the installation dates from the middle of last year. The base ring has mutated to a Cube Controls in the most recent photo, where we also see the use of Logitech G headsets replacing the audio system in the first photo.

It has also changed the 55-inch TV to a 49-inch Samsung ultrawide monitor which we have talked about here before as we see in the last picture, with a Fanatec handbrake and a sequential one of the same brand probably.

A powerful PC of which we don’t know specific specifications, but probably very similar to what we published here.

The cockpit and the seat are also from Allinsport, but it is nothing that you miss if you go to look a little bit in our cockpit section like IOVALUETECH or NWS Xtreme.

Montoya has been using the simulator at the WFG and The Race events, with Factor 2, so it has been possible to enjoy his driving during this time of confinement.

Knowing that this is a hobby you are going to dedicate time to, it is not an impossible dream to achieve something similar.

See you on the track!
