iRacing and INDYCAR have officially announced the development of INDYCAR Racing The Game, the new official video game of America’s premier open wheel racing series. The title is scheduled to launch in early 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The project is being developed by iRacing Studios, an internationally recognized leader in motorsport simulation, with the goal of delivering the most authentic and realistic INDYCAR gaming experience ever created.
The new title aims to capture the full intensity of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, combining speed, precision, and realism in every race.
Players will compete at iconic venues such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, along with the championship’s most celebrated street circuits, permanent road courses, and oval tracks.
According to the developers, the game will leverage iRacing’s extensive expertise in motorsport simulation to provide an authentic experience, faithfully recreating both the behavior of the cars and the characteristics of each circuit.
One of the most significant aspects of the announcement is that INDYCAR Racing The Game will become the first standalone INDYCAR video game in more than two decades, marking the series’ return with a dedicated title.
The release is also planned to coincide with the build up to the 2027 Indianapolis 500, one of the world’s most prestigious motorsport events.
INDYCAR says the project is designed to bring the excitement and spectacle of the championship to a new generation of racing fans and players. Meanwhile, iRacing stated that its development team has been passionate about this project for years and is committed to creating a game worthy of the INDYCAR name through a deeply immersive experience on both consoles and PC.
While the announcement has already revealed the game’s official name, logo, and first in game image, additional information regarding gameplay features, game modes, and pre order availability will be shared over the coming months.
