The racing simulator iRacing continues expanding its content with the release of the 2026 Season 2 build, an update that introduces new tracks, technical improvements, and a series of changes aimed at refining the overall user experience.
As is typical with the service’s major seasonal updates, the new patch not only adds fresh content but also includes bug fixes, performance adjustments, and several quality-of-life improvements designed to polish different aspects of the simulator. Among the most notable additions are the debut of a new street circuit and the complete rebuild of several existing tracks.
Barber Motorsports Park Fully Rebuilt
The update also introduces a completely rebuilt version of Barber Motorsports Park, one of the simulator’s most recognizable road courses.
Located in Leeds, Alabama, the track has been recreated from the ground up using brand-new laser-scan data alongside the latest environmental and artistic techniques used by the development team. The goal is to improve both the accuracy of the track surface and the overall visual fidelity of the surrounding environment.
For current users, the upgrade will be available at no additional cost. The previous version of the circuit will be retired and automatically replaced by this new build for all existing owners.
Visual Updates for Several Short Tracks
In addition to Barber Motorsports Park, three other venues have also received full visual rebuilds as part of the new build:
- Lanier National Speedway
- Langley Speedway
- USA International Speedway
In these cases, the improvements primarily focus on updating 3D models, textures, and environmental details, bringing the tracks in line with the simulator’s current graphical standards.
St. Petersburg Street Circuit Makes Its iRacing Debut
The headline addition in the update is the arrival of the St. Petersburg Street Circuit, a track that regularly appears on the calendar of the IndyCar Series.
Located in St. Petersburg, Florida, the circuit is known for combining sections of public roads with areas inside Albert Whitted Airport, creating a technical layout defined by tight walls, heavy braking zones, and several low-speed corners. Its addition to iRacing expands the range of options available for both open-wheel and touring car competitions within the simulator.
The track’s inclusion reflects the developer’s ongoing effort to recreate the international motorsports calendar with greater accuracy, particularly for North American racing series.
A Landmark Facility in American Motorsports
Beyond its presence in iRacing, Barber Motorsports Park is widely recognized as one of the most distinctive motorsports venues in the United States. The facility covers roughly 880 acres and combines a race circuit, museum complex, and driver training areas.
The track features 16 turns, approximately 80 feet of elevation change, and a track width of around 45 feet, creating a fast and technical layout that is highly regarded by both drivers and fans. Its meticulously maintained landscaping has often led it to be described as the “Augusta National of motorsports,” referencing the famous golf course.
The venue also includes a 150-by-350-foot wet/dry skid pad, off-road trails, and several facilities dedicated to driver education and the preservation of automotive history.
