iRacing is deploying a new 2026 Season 4 hotfix on September 11, addressing two simulator crashes and making an important rear-suspension change to the recently released Caterham Academy and Caterham 420R.
The main change affects the rear suspension of both Caterham models. According to iRacing’s hotfix notes, the damage settings have been updated to allow the rear axles to move through their intended range.
iRacing says the change will fundamentally improve the handling of both cars. It also resolves an issue that could occasionally make it impossible for players to pull away from the pit box.
The Caterham Academy and Caterham 420R were introduced with the iRacing 2026 Season 4 build released on September 9. Both cars had already been available for players to test during Week 13 ahead of the start of the regular Season 4 schedule.
The September 11 hotfix also includes two client stability fixes:
- Fixed a simulator crash when scrubbing through the VCR/replay controls.
- Fixed a simulator crash that could occur when minimizing the simulator.
- Updated the Caterham Academy and Caterham 420R rear suspension settings.
- Fixed the issue that could prevent the Caterhams from leaving the pits correctly.
The timing makes the Caterham changes particularly significant, with iRacing 2026 Season 4 officially beginning on September 15. Players therefore have several days to test the revised handling before the new competitive season gets underway.
