iRacing has detailed its Season 4 2026 update, confirming a substantial package of new cars, rebuilt circuits, physics improvements, UI features and further progress on Career Mode and the next-generation graphics engine. The August development update also confirms the arrival of the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, two Caterham models, major revisions to several existing cars and a new multiclass race start system.
New Cars and Rebuilt Circuits
The headline car addition is the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, developed using telemetry, chassis data and direct engineering input to reproduce the characteristics of the V12-powered prototype. iRacing says the project required extensive work to accurately model the car’s mechanical behavior, aerodynamics and chassis dynamics before it was considered ready for release.

iRacing is also adding the Caterham Academy and Caterham 420R as a single purchase. The Academy is aimed at novice racers and will initially compete in Class D series, while the more powerful 420R will be positioned in Class C. Both cars bring a lightweight, highly mechanical driving experience that sits between traditional sports cars and open-wheel machinery.

Three existing circuits have been completely rebuilt using new laser scans captured in 2026. Road America, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and the Milwaukee Mile will replace their older versions while remaining available at no additional cost to existing owners. The older versions of those tracks will be retired once the new scans are released with Season 4.


Road America also receives new East and West configurations using the Turn 5 bypass, while Milwaukee gains a new road course layout. In addition, Summit Point Raceway has been rebuilt with new models, textures, vegetation, curbs and surfaces, while Road Atlanta receives updated track textures, 3D curbs, foliage and scenery ahead of Petit Le Mans.

Major Car and Physics Updates
The Mazda MX-5 receives one of the largest revisions in Season 4. iRacing has reworked its suspension using updated kinematics, revised the engine and driveline, introduced newer damper specifications and integrated its latest tire model. Aerodynamics and the damage model have also been updated to improve drafting and bump-drafting behavior, while the car’s visuals have received a full refresh.
A new Gen 4 Grand National will be added to the existing ARCA Menards Chevrolet and Gen 4 Cup package. Existing owners will receive the car automatically, while both Gen 4 models also benefit from an updated drafting model. The package will lose its Legacy designation and gain a dedicated official series for the Grand National.

The pavement Sprint Car has also been rebuilt from the ground up. It receives more power, revised torque delivery, reduced engine braking, a new tire model, redesigned suspension geometry and updated braking characteristics. The changes are based on current technical standards and 2026 regulations, with iRacing also revising garage adjustment limits to better reflect the real-world car.

One of the most important technical developments is the new Physics Islands architecture. iRacing has refactored and multi-threaded the core physics loop, allowing calculations to be distributed more efficiently across available CPU threads. According to iRacing, this can reduce CPU physics overhead by 50% or more in large-field situations while maintaining responsiveness in smaller sessions.
The new architecture is also intended to support future improvements. iRacing says Physics Islands creates the technical foundation needed to increase physics tick rates, improve input sampling and raise force feedback update frequencies. Those changes are not part of the current Season 4 release, but the underlying work is now in place for future development.
Multiclass Starts, UI and Weather Changes
Season 4 introduces a soft launch of a revised multiclass start system. Different classes can now use dedicated pace cars, maintain separate gaps and receive independent green flags. The feature will initially be available on selected circuits and series, with official IMSA competition among the first areas where the new procedure will be supported.

The Sim UI also receives several new tools. Pit Summary provides clearer information on service time, damage, pit selections and stall position, while Car Damage UI adds an optional visual estimate of vehicle damage. A new Reference Car UI can display live driver inputs when following ghost or reference cars in testing and time-based modes.


Other interface additions include Quick Settings, improved shifting feedback and a new Pinned Mode. The latter allows selected UI elements to remain visible while the rest of the HUD is hidden, giving users more control over what information remains on screen during driving, testing or replay sessions.

iRacing has also fully migrated smoke and particle effects to its newer VFX engine. The revised system improves density, lighting interaction, wind behavior and visibility effects. Weather development continues as well, with experimental per-race and per-race-day weather re-rolls being introduced in selected environments to gather additional data and user feedback.
Career Mode and the New Graphics Engine
The upcoming single-player Career Mode is now technology-complete, with development moving into bug fixing, usability testing and final polish. Career Mode will launch with seven different career paths, each built around realistic motorsport progression. Players will advance through objectives, standings targets and performance requirements rather than using the same structure as official multiplayer competition.

Career Mode will be included with the standard iRacing subscription. Cars and tracks required for a career will unlock automatically while progressing through the mode, without requiring additional purchases. This access applies only within Career Mode and does not transfer to the wider iRacing service, where the normal ownership model will continue to apply.
The mode will also include adjustable difficulty, configurable race and schedule lengths, limited retries and leaderboard scoring. Some traditional management systems will not be available at launch. iRacing has confirmed that driver-owner mechanics, sponsorship management and team budgets are not part of the initial version, although the platform is designed to expand over time.
Development of the new graphics engine is also progressing, with work focused on physically based night lighting, emissive materials and more accurate track illumination. The renderer will also introduce texture streaming and memory optimizations, while revised solar irradiance calculations are intended to improve track temperature behavior and reduce network traffic.

Additional circuit development remains active. Modeling of the drivable surface at Circuit Bugatti is complete, Paul Ricard is under development, and work is taking place at Winchester Speedway. Scanning visits are also planned for Circuit Paul Armagnac in France and Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Spain.
Finally, iRacing Companion App 3.0 is now available on iOS and Android. The update adds Weather V2 integration, improved scheduling information, redesigned results, new search tools and synchronization of favorites, friends and social connections with the desktop client, extending several service features beyond the main simulator.
