As part of the highly anticipated Season 4 update, iRacing has introduced two iconic tracks: Cadwell Park and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Cadwell Park: The Mini Nürburgring of iRacing
Cadwell Park’s addition to iRacing introduces a significant challenge for even the most experienced sim racers. Known for its narrow width and technical complexity, this track demands precision, patience, and a deep understanding of its unique features.
Drivers must carefully navigate the tight sections, such as Hall Bends and The Hairpin, where overtaking opportunities are scarce. Elevation changes, particularly the steep Mountain section, require meticulous car setup to maintain stability.
Development Notes: Cadwell is a great racing circuit that’s close to home for many of our iRacing devs and iRacers, nestled in the woods of Lincolnshire, England. All four real-world configs will be included, and the team has had a blast driving it.
The track’s tight corners demand smooth braking and throttle control, rewarding finesse and consistency over aggressive driving. Mastering Cadwell Park offers a unique sense of accomplishment, making it a valuable test for those seeking to improve their skills.
Spa-Francorchamps
The journey to the new Spa in iRacing has been eagerly anticipated by the community. Understanding the demand for an updated version, the iRacing team embarked on a meticulous process to rebuild Spa from the ground up.
What’s New at Spa?
- The most significant changes in this updated version of Spa-Francorchamps are evident from the very start of a lap.
- The section from La Source through Eau Rouge and Raidillon has seen substantial updates, reflecting the real-world modifications that have been made to improve safety and enhance the driving experience.
- All drivable surfaces on the circuit have been completely re-modeled. This includes the new asphalt and trackside details, ensuring that the racing experience is as close to reality as possible.
Development Notes: As it stands, the odds of the new Spa being ready for Season 4 are about 50/50. The final decision will depend on how progress unfolds over the next few weeks.
If you already own the existing version of Spa, the updated version will be automatically added to your account at no extra cost. This means you’ll have access to both the historic version of Spa and the new, modern version.
For those who don’t yet own Spa, a single purchase will provide access to both versions of the track, ensuring that everyone can experience the full evolution of this legendary circuit.
