iRacing: Hickory Motor Speedway Coming in September

In a tweet posted by Dale Earnhardt Jr, current iRacing CEO, the arrival of the “World’s Most Famous Short Track” to the simulator is confirmed for the upcoming September build. Hickory Motor Speedway is located in the city of Hickory, North Carolina and is labeled by many as “The Birthplace of NASCAR Stars“.

The original half-mile (0.8km) track was opened in 1951 as a dirt track but has been reconfigured 3 times throughout its history. It is currently an circuit of 0.584km in length. Drivers who have won throughout its history include Junior Johnson, Ned Jarrett, Ralph Earnhardt and more.

Currently, this track hosts NASCAR’s club division races, specifically the Whelen All-American Series, Pro All setar Series South Super Late Models and the CARS Tour, where the Late Models and Super Late Models stand out.

It is a track that will bring smiles to NASCAR lovers of yesteryear and will surely bring great races in the oval series.
