iRacing – Hockenheim Coming to iRacing Next Season!

In a recent post in the iRacing forums, specifically in the Dallara iR-01 section, Greg West, iRacing Staff Member, shows us some of the changes that will come to this category next season, but also shows us the next calendar, in which we can find the Hockenheim circuit in the second week.

This means that the German circuit will arrive to the sim at the beginning of next week. But not only that, the calendar specifies that the race will be held on the “outer” layout, a somewhat curious name since currently an “outer” variant does not exist on the circuit. Only 3 modern layouts are known, the short, the national and the GP. Perhaps this “outer” layout is the classic circuit?

Maybe, although everything indicates that the classic versions of this circuit will not exist. But there is another detail. The calendar indicates that there will be 40 laps of the circuit, and taking into account that one of the changes that will be made in the next season for this category is that the races will last about 45 minutes, so each lap with this car to this variant will be about 67 seconds approximately, something almost impossible for the old variants.

Another possibility is that they come up with a new “outside” layout in which the GP lap is done up to the hairpin after the long straight, and from there it communicates with the last corner of the circuit through the pit lane and what is left of the classic circuit in that section, making a sort of “GP Sakhir 2020” variant. Or maybe it is simply the GP version but with another name?

Everything will become clearer once we have more information.

See you on the track!
