In November, iRacing brings us back the IMSA Esports Global Championship, maintaining the sprint race format of the IMSA SportsCar championship, but this time with open registration.

Here’s all the information.

IMSA is partnering with iRacing and VCO (Virtual Competition Organisation) for the third consecutive year to organize the 2024 IMSA Global Esports Championship starting in November. For the first time, this prestigious sim racing contest will feature a public qualifying process.

While championship entries are reserved for previous series champions and winners of iRacing’s VCO Grand Slam events, all iRacing members will have the opportunity to earn a spot in the four-race championship. Additionally, there will be a limited number of wildcard entries. Wildcard entries in 2023 included Nitro Circus Sim Racing Team and Texaco Racing by TK, Tony Kanaan’s Esports team.

Schedule and Broadcast

The four-round schedule begins at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta (November 24), followed by the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (December 8) and Sebring International Raceway (January 5, 2025), concluding at Daytona International Speedway (January 12, 2025).

The competition will feature accurately digitalized versions of the Grand Touring prototypes (GTP):

  • Acura ARX-06
  • BMW M Hybrid V8
  • Cadillac V-Series.R
  • Porsche 963

Alongside Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class cars currently available on the iRacing platform:

  • Mercedes-AMG GT3
  • BMW M4 GT3
  • Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R
  • Ferrari 296 GT3
  • Ford Mustang GT3
  • Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2
  • Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)

Maintaining the sprint race format of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, each event in the IMSA Global Esports Championship will last 2 hours and 40 minutes and will be livestreamed on IMSA’s and iRacing’s Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube channels.
