What the Miami International Autodrome Brings to iRacing
The development team at iRacing had the opportunity to work closely with the official circuit management team, allowing them to capture high-precision data and validate configurations throughout the project. This results in an extremely faithful recreation of the real circuit, including curves, elevation changes, visual references, and general flow.
In iRacing, Miami arrives with five configurations, including:
- The complete Grand Prix layout
- Internal and external variants around the stadium
- Shorter options ideal for lower series or training sessions
The track is also visually striking. It wraps around the Hard Rock Stadium, creating a hybrid atmosphere between a street circuit and a semi-permanent venue. Narrow sections, quick transitions, and constant rhythm changes make every meter count.
The Real Circuit and How It Feels in iRacing
The Miami International Autodrome, located in Miami Gardens, Florida, was created specifically for the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, which debuted in 2022. Designed by Apex Circuit Design, it features:
- 3.363 miles (5.412 km)
- 19 corners
- Counterclockwise direction
- Long straights that emphasize drafting
- A technical mid-sector that rewards precision
From a driving perspective, Miami blends three elements that SIM racers love:
- Long straights for strong overtaking opportunities
- Narrow technical sections that test consistency and control
- Elevation changes that require fine car management
Competitively, Miami is likely to appear in:
- Official Formula series
- Multiclass championships
- Special endurance events
- League races looking for varied, demanding tracks
