This is something that the community has been asking for months now, especially since the incorporation of the IMSA Michelin Pilot that is in the Class C License, having both IMSAs in the same category. With these changes, the multi-class series progress ladder is better balanced, and in addition, having the Class A license will now be more important than before.
Official notes:
Three of iRacing’s most popular Road series will be moved up by one license division starting this December. The IMSA Sports Car Championship, iRacing Le Mans Series, and iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series will each be moved up one license class. Details on each series for 2021 Season 1 and beyond are as follows:
- iRacing IMSA SportsCar Championship: Class B // Solo // P2, GTE, GT3
- iRacing Le Mans Series: Class A // Solo // P1, P2, GTE
- iRacing Endurance Le Mans Series: // Class A // Team // P1, P2, GTE
These adjustments are designed to raise the standards of racecraft in each series, and are being announced two months in advance of their move in order to give drivers enough notice to earn the proper license to continue competing in their preferred series if necessary.
