iRacing – Practice Groups

One of the features of iRacing is being able to practice with people and know the time references. We are all together using the track and you can take advantage of it to practice the refuelling as well as to practice the parallels or overtaking in delicate areas of the circuit. The problem comes with the overcrowding or the different rhythms of each simRacer, an issue that is greatly accentuated when we enter a multi-class practice with notable differences in speed where almost all the cars share the same track.

In order to alleviate this problem somewhat and to be able to take advantage of the full potential of the practice without being disrupted by traffic, practice groups were introduced a few months ago.

Each practice is divided into different groups that have a sufficiently low stop to be able to drive without much problem and high enough to be able to observe others making the bends. The good thing is that we can move between the groups and do one with our friends or anyone else we are interested in while enjoying the timing of the others.

It is one of the successes of the last few months in that we can have an updated test session, with real weather and practice while riding completely alone making the training much more effective. To enjoy it you just have to select one of the empty groups in the iRacing HUD entries tab using the MyGRP button.
