iRacing – Season 3 Road Series Updates

Few weeks left for the end of the current season in iRacing and the beginning of what will be the third season of the year. And as always, the information starts to move in the iRacing forums. In this case, Greg West, iRacing staff member, has made a post on the forum announcing that the current series known as MOAR will be the new Imsa Michelin Pilot Challenge, while the current IMPC will be divided into two. This is what they tell us in the forum.

For Season 3, we have made some updates and adjustments based on community feedback to some of our road series.

The first of these is the renaming of the MOAR to the IMSA Pilot Challenge. This series will closely follow the summer schedule of the real world IMSA Pilot Challenge while maintaining the format of the popular MOAR series introduced last year.

With the IMSA Pilot Challenge concept replacing the MOAR, we have also split the GT4’s and Touring Cars into separate Open series as the C level. These series will still maintain the 30 minute race length and will run opposite hours of their D level Fixed counterparts while running the same schedule as the associated Fixed series. Both of the D level Fixed series for the GT4’s and Touring Cars will now run every 2 hours still making it possible to race these vehicles every hour without competing time slots. The Open series has been left at the C level to help differentiate the race distances being longer than the Fixed series.

For Season 3, we have also brought back the Global Endurance Series. This series features 24 hour team events using the same vehicles as the European Sprint Series. The Global Endurance Series will use the schedule submitted by the European Endurance Series community with a couple of changes to be announced when the schedules are released. The European Endurance Series will return for Season 4 as it did in 2021.

Lastly, we have updated the start time of the LMP2 Prototype Challenge- Fixed to run opposite hours of the IMSA series on the odd:45 time GMT. The community had already submitted a schedule that matches that of IMSA and this change allows the prototype drivers the opportunity to race in both without overlap.

See you on the track!
