iRacing: Season 4 2025 Review

There are days when you log into a simulator expecting the usual: a couple of new cars, a random track, and a patch that breaks your setup right before your most important race. The usual.

But not this time. That’s what this new season feels like.

The Dallara IL15

Imagine a Formula 2 car that spent a year abroad in the United States. That’s the Dallara IL15: powerful, rebellious, and with less aerodynamics than a brick on wheels.

The first time you drive it, the rear end seems to whisper: “Hey, I do my own thing, okay?” And there you are, correcting, sweating, thinking you’re in control… until turn three arrives and you realize you’ve been invited to an improvised dance.

But the wonderful thing is that chaos is fun. It’s not a car that punishes you like an angry teacher; it’s more like a mischievous dog: it slips away, you chase it, it makes life difficult, but in the end, it makes you smile.

The Aston Martin GT3: James Bond in the Paddock

And then it appears: the Aston Martin GT3. Let’s be honest—with eleven GT3s already, the last thing we needed was another. But it doesn’t matter. This one rolls into the garage in a tuxedo, orchestral music playing, Martini in hand (shaken, not stirred).

The car is stable, elegant, sounds like a British tenor choir, and looks stunning. The only downside? The stock livery looks like it was designed by someone who has never seen an Aston Martin. This car begs for that iconic Aston green.

And me? I don’t even like British cars… and yet I end up thinking I need one in my life.

Ford Mustang GT4 and more updates

I’ll admit it: GT4s were never my thing. They always felt like the boring cousins at the party. They showed up, but without spark.

Until now.

With the new tire and aero model, GT4s are a whole new world. The car no longer throws random scares at you; now it warns you, talks to you, almost sends a WhatsApp: “hey, I’m about to slide, get ready.”

The best part is that you can push harder without feeling like the tires are melting like forgotten ice cream in August. You even need a lap to warm them up, which adds that realistic touch that makes every pit exit an adventure.

Suddenly, GT4s went from “meh” to “awesome.”

Mexico

And then comes the big debut: the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

Just hearing the name makes me sing mental rancheras. This track proves that adrenaline can have a Mexican accent. Long straights, heavy braking, tight corners… and the Foro Sol section, which feels more like a concert stage than a corner.

Sure, the track is flatter than your grandma’s table. No roller-coaster elevation changes here. But with its multiple variants and that opening stretch promising six-wide battles… the show is guaranteed.

Updated Tracks: Because Details Matter

It’s not all new tracks; some classics got a facelift too.

  • Watkins now has stricter limits and remodeled curbs. No more ninja escapes—you’ll have to really drive.
  • Daytona added a new chicane. Not fully convinced; it feels like a traffic light in the middle of a roller coaster. Still, variety is welcome.
  • Charlotte Roval 2025 is basically a playground for dive-bomb fanatics.
  • Oulton Park didn’t change its layout, but it’s so visually stunning it looks like someone applied an Instagram filter.

The Interface: Goodbye Screen Sudoku

One thing that made me clap like a seal at the circus was the new interface.

Before, moving elements around the screen was like solving a Rubik’s Cube with boxing gloves. Now? It’s drag, drop, and smile. Resize, reposition, change opacity—even the virtual mirror comes in three modes: small, normal, and panoramic. Yes, panoramic, so you can see the guy coming from the gas station down the road.

Downsides? A few. You can’t resize elements individually—it’s all or nothing. And no, you still can’t have multiple black boxes at once. It’s like playing with Play-Doh but only in one color.

Even so, the improvement is so big I forgive it.

Little Details That Change Everything

It’s not just the interface. Tiny additions made me grin:

  • You can now move replay controls. No more steering wheel blocking half the screen when you need to rewind.
  • In the pits, the speed limiter can be displayed with “NASCAR-style” graphics or a more European look. Options are always welcome.
  • The tire black box now has such clear icons that even your cat could pick which tire to change.

Small touches, yes, but they make everything feel smoother.

And that, my friends, is what makes this season special.

Out of all these new features, which one do you think will give you the best stories to tell?

Happy Racing!
